The Dream Country
Iceland is the dream country for many photographers, for landscape photographers it is a heaven on Earth. I'm so lucky to be an photographer and living on this beautiful island which we call Iceland, and no we don't live in snow houses. :)
However, it is not so long ago since Icelanders lived in a small turf houses. Fortunately modern Icelanders live in modern houses with all modern gadget you can think of, even though it could change due to collapse of our economy system - but that's too depressive stuff for this lens so I will try to stay away from that topic. :)
Instead I will try to share some photographs from Iceland and information about Iceland. Also please feel free to send me questions if you're going to Iceland and need some travel information. :)
Hopefully you will enjoy my lens! :)

About me
Hi my name is Stefan and I live in a city called Reykjavik which is located on an island called Iceland or Ísland in Icelandic. :) I have been working as an artist in Iceland since... well just say long time ago... but I'm turning 30 years old on this year (2009). So I was born the year 1979, same year as these fellow earthlings ... Kate Hudson, Heath Ledger and more .. ;o)
On track again.... I'm trained church organist and have been working as such since 1995, I also compose music. I have always been interested in other arts also but in the past 3 years I got my first digital SLR camera and from that day it is no turning back. So in past 3 years I have been looking for a way to combine my arts and I think I have found it through slideshow and video productions.
Hopefully it will turn out great and allow me to share my artistic perspectives on the beauty of my country to the whole world!

Icelandgifts - Giftshop
Some months ago I thought to myself what were the most efficient way to distribute the beauty of Iceland. The result was one word, GIFTS! People love gifts and what is better than giving beautiful gift which both makes the receiver happy and distribute the beauty of Iceland to homes everywhere in the world.
Someday my customers will hopefully visit Iceland to see the beauty and power of Iceland with their own eyes.
If my customers are happy then I'm happy too!

Glacier Lagoon

Glacier Lagoon by icelandphotoblog
This photograph was taken at a boat trip on one of the most famous glacier lagoon in Iceland, Jökulsárlón. It is situated at the south end of the glacier Vatnajökull between Skaftafell National Park and Höfn. Appearing first only in 1934-1935, the lake grew from 7.9 km² in 1975 to at least 18 km² today because of heavy melting of the Icelandic glaciers. Approaching a depth of 200 m, Jökulsárlón is now probably the second deepest lake in Iceland. Next few days I will post more pictures from my trip to Jökulsárlón.

Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights
In Iceland you can experience Aurora Borealis from late August to late April. And what a fantastic frame you have when Iceland is in it's winter cloths and the moon helps to light up the landscape. See above photograph. :)
For Aurora hunters, Iceland is surely the perfect dream come true!

- Happy birthday. That picture of the northern lights at the start made my jaw drop open. Some stuning photos here. I also can't wait for more pictures of Glacier Lagoon -- the colors and shapes are just gorgeous. What a rugged, beautiful country.
Iceland has always seemed like a very special place to me because of what little I know of your history -- the "Althing" going back so many centuries, the sagas and tales.
