Can you hear it?
Listen!
Can you hear it: the pelting over your head as rain falls and bounces off the roof? Or is the rain you hear barely audible because it's only a gentle mist?
Rain sounds especially loud when hitting metal structures such as cars, metal buildings and tin roofing material. It sounds so loud that, any minute, you feel the roof will cave in and you'll be left to fend for yourself against the pelting rain.
You wouldn't venture to go outside in this type of rain unless it was necessary...or unless you loved lightning and it began to flash across the sky, illuminating the darkness to the point where you could see a penny on a sidewalk, even if only for an instant or two.

Lightning Strikes
A majestic act of nature
If you enjoy lightning storms and listening to thunder roar across the sky, it might be an occasion, as a couple, to venture outside after all. You can sit in your vehicle, listen to the rain and watch the magnificent lightning show as it unfolds, dazzling you with its magnificence, strength and power.Energy would course through your veins as you take it all in and the most beautiful feeling would come over you when you look at your partner's eyes and see the wild excitement, yet awe, which cannot help but reveal itself; it sends a shiver of delight up your spine.
Play Together: It's a lot of fun!
If you like to play together, you could provide yourself a challenge: see which one of you could run between the drops most successfully. Of course, you would both get wet but the challenge would be to see who is driest after getting from point A to B.
You would look silly - as though you got into a shower with your clothing on - but you would share a few laughs I'm sure.
Also, depending upon the season, it may produce a bit of shivering but you're capable of warning each other.
"Even with rain pouring from the sky, it can lend to a romantic atmosphere."
Go with the flow
You may even end up in each other's arms
Prepare a meal together while sneaking every opportunity to enjoy a quick hug or kiss. Afterward, sit across from each other sharing a candlelight dinner. Reminisce about favorite memories and share a few laughs. If you desire, add a little music and share a dance or two.
The beauty of nature can be found anywhere; it's up to us to discover the Earth's secrets.
Read together
If you enjoy reading, select a book and take turns reading each chapter. You can read the entire book or stop whenever you choose. Whatever the case, it provides a memorable date: you get a chance to relax and unwind with each other and can share your feelings about the story as you finish each chapter.
It also lends a feeling of excitement with the rain pouring outside, especially if the wind is blowing; you'll be glad to have each other's company.
Bring out the oils
Set up a massage parlour
Bring out the oils, candles and towels. You won't need nature music because you're hearing it from the rain falling outside.
Take at least thirty minutes to give your partner a massage and then allow him to massage you. Both of you will feel much more relaxed and it will set a wonderful tone for the remainder of the day or evening. Of course, you can always move the candles to the washroom and enjoy a shower together which will drown out the sound of the rain.
"Would you like to hear a wild idea?"
Put the music on!
Put the music just loud enough to drown out the sound of the rain. Push furniture tight to the walls and create a space big enough to dance.
Dance together or dance by yourself. Dance freestyle or perform your favorite moves. Dance with reservation or dance wild and free. It's totally up to you!
Enjoy this time together and, while it may stir your emotions and passions, you will also both get a phenomenal workout.
Dancing with abandon
Gentle Rainfall
Gentle rain falling from the sky already creates a romantic atmosphere, especially at night. All you need is to get ready and take advantage of it.During the day, go for a walk along a wooded trail and see how the leaves and flowers brighten and come alive, basking in joy because of the previous rain.
Walk hand-in-hand along a sandy beach feeling the rain kiss your skin.
Enjoy a rocky shoreline and watch waves as they crash along the shoreline - but be careful because some rocks will be slippery.
Sit on the edge of a pier and, shielding your camera, take photos especially if fog starts to roll in. Fog provides a romantic atmosphere, yet grants an air of mystery and intrigue. It also provides breathtaking photo opportunities which you wouldn't want to miss especially if you are avid photographers.
"Are you ready for an outrageous, yet interesting, idea?"
If you hate the rain...cringe at the sound of it...
And couldn't possibly feel romantic while those droplets fall from the sky...
The marathon should involve each of you going through the house, cleaning from ceiling to floor, putting everything in its correct place, and getting rid of things no longer needed.
Afterwards, when the rain has stopped, you can stay in, or go out, and enjoy whatever you want to do as a couple. Either way, you will have a clean organized home which will make you feel great - whether at home or out on a date - and you will bond because you acted as a team in making it possible.
A question about chivalry...
Men used to open and close the car door for their wives. They would even remove their wives coats, and hang them, upon entering a home. They would pull out a chair for their wives to sit, and then push the chair towards the table until their wives were comfortable.
Has chivalry died?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byI'd have to say, "Yes."
"No, there's still hope."
Norma_Budden says:
It may have died in many relationships but it is still very much a part of mine. However, I can also exercise chivalry and that gives Owen a feeling of being doted on and cherished, too.

Sylvestermouse says:
My husband is quite the gentleman! He does all of he things you mentioned. He also walks on the "outside" closest to traffic to serve as a shield, he gives me his coat if I am cold, he remembers to tell waitresses what I don't like on my hamburger if I forget to do that when I order, he always jumps to my defense (even if I am wrong) and he brings me flowers for no reason.

- Well, I don't see a whole lot of rain living in northern Canada. However, Owen is in Newfoundland, for the time being, and there's definitely no shortage of rain and fog. I read books to Owen over the phone different times; we'll finish a book over a period of a week or two and then take a rest for a bit and begin another. It's fascinating and more fun than I, initially, imagined! Of course, I read books I've already read because, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to put them down after hanging up the telephone. :)
Life certainly does continue to give us things to look forward to...and I'm so glad you enjoyed my lens.

- What a nice lens. My husband and I do enjoy reading together, though it's usually I who reads aloud and he who listens, which is how we prefer it. I do wish we had more rainy days here in northern Arizona, though. I love a good, gray, rainy day to stay in and play. Especially when it's on a weekend day, so my husband can stay home, too.

- Yes, they are both fascinating, for sure. Of course, while sunsets are rather quiet, lightning storms are quite the opposite. :)
