#1 Like Working With Pets?

Here's a great home business idea for you!

"Dressed Pet Photos"

Yes, pet owners love to spend time with their pets and some even love to dress up their pets. One business has found success in creating uniforms for pets. You just need to have Adobe Photoshop and know how to use it. When people send pictures of their pets, you can put uniforms on them digitally.

You could charge about $30 for this service, and provide your customers with a printed and framed photo.

Doesn't this sound like a lot of fun? Many people would gladly pay you to design and construct a uniform for their beloved pet.

However, now there is no need to go through all of the work of making a uniform for each one in different sizes. Not now with the magic of computers and amazing software that can do it for us quite easily once you learn how to use the software.

Then with a program like 'Adobe Photoshop' you are able to put these uniforms on their pets digitally, print it up, frame it, and send it to them.

#2 Recycle Old Tires

Unique Products You Can Make And Sell...While Being "Green"

Make planters and other creations out of old tires. Customers will love that you are recycling and reusing them.

You can cut, paint, twist, and design them into anything - just be creative. Auto service and parts stores will gladly let you remove their old tires, and probably even pay you for it!

What a great 'business idea', collect old used tires that you should be able to acquire free, or receive pay, to haul away for businesses.

Turn the tires into items that last for a good long time, sell them, and make great profits. Because this is an excellent way of recycling an item that otherwise will end up as landfill, you will find many people that are recycle-conscious that want to buy from you to help in any way they can to help in the recycling movement.

  • Pottery that will not allow your plants to freeze and they don't break
  • Fountains, waterfalls, and pools much cheaper than the typical ones on the market
  • Many types of back yard playground equipment (not just a swing)
  • Raised gardening beds
  • Attractive retaining walls
  • Inexpensive lawn and garden edging
  • Lawn art
  • Compost containers
  • Much more

#3 Selling Snacks

Quick Business Selling To A Truly "Hungry" Market

Imagine this. It is a hot, sunny day at the kids' soccer game and everyone is cheering on the edge of the field. As the sun increases, sweaty, thirsty kids pour off the field, running to their parents for drinks and snacks. A well-organized parent will probably have a bottle of water and the team might offer orange slices, but what about when those run out?

If you were there, you could offer a roadside snack stand. That's right, sell snacks and drinks to all those starving spectators and players. The only equipment you need to start is a vehicle of some sort and a cooler.

Before you begin, find out if you need a license in your area to sell roadside. Many towns offer reasonably priced licenses which allow this. You probably won't be able to cook anything unless you have a proper setup, but not to worry, chips and Cokes are more than enough to please your clients.

In most areas, you will not be allowed to sell on school property, so if the game is at the local high school, you need to make sure you are not on their property. Again a quick check with a lawyer will give you the answer to this question.

#4 Provide This Needed Service To Businesses In Your Area

Start An On-Demand "Drop Off" Service

During evenings and weekends, restaurants and other businesses can run out of important materials needed, which could shut down a business for the day, lose customer loyalty, and would certainly effect their bottom line.

Offer a drop off service for these businesses where you get a call and bring them what they need: register paper rolls, ribbons, pressure sensitive labels, thermal sensitive paper, printer paper, and other necessary products.

If you have access to these types of items during the hours you may be called on to fill their needs, you could have yourself a very successful 'business idea'. Living in an area that has many businesses is helpful also.

Many times companies can't afford to send an employee out to look for something they need at the last minute so the service you would be offering goes far beyond 'useful'; it is vital! Part of your success will be knowing how and where to get these items quickly, so that you can deliver them quickly to your customers.

Another major key to your success will be making yourself available at all times to your customers, day or night, weekday and weekends. Make sure that you have a cell phone that you are able to carry at all times, and something to write your called-in orders on.

It is important that you also have some form of voicemail, so that if you are talking to one customer, your other customers will be able to contact you and you can call them back quickly.

#5 Sell Your Voice

Get Paid For Talking?

Have you ever noticed that often times when listening to an advertisement a distinct voice may stick with you, and you associate it with a certain product?

It can be advantageous to have an unusual voice in some circumstances. Different businesses are always looking for new voices. Why not make your voice available to them?

Why would business be willing to pay people for their voices? Many businesses need a great voice for voice-overs, books on CD, television and radio advertising, customized answering machine tapes, product demonstrations, and more.

You should target these businesses in offering your voice for these types of jobs.

Be sure to have important information such as; who you are and how to contact you, printed professionally on the recordings you send to businesses.

Be prepared to audition for them at the drop of a hat, in case they put you on the spot to accomplish this without warning.

Always carry business cards with you to give to anyone interested in your abilities. These business cards could mean the difference between getting a new job and not, you want to be easily contacted and remembered by those you give them to.

#6 "Poolside Profits"

Start A Pool Cleaning Service

Start your own pool cleaning service. You will need a pool vacuum, a skimmer, and knowledge of pools in general. You will also need a PH levels tester, and the items needed to balance the PH levels in the water.

To open a pool cleaning service, you will have to make some initial investments. Of course, you would first need a truck to hold all your equipment needed for pool cleaning services. Some of the equipment you will need is a pool vacuum, a skimmer, a PH level tester, chemicals for balancing the PH levels and of course, some knowledge of pools in general!

Along with this, you may need a computer to maintain accounts and a spare room to place your equipment.

If you are not familiar with pool cleaning, it is better to take some training. There are many courses spanning about thirty days, where you learn skills to clean the pool like a pro.

There are even some courses, which teach pool cleaning in a month, and offer 12 months ongoing support after that.

#7 Become A Home Organizer

Get Paid To Straighten Out Other People's Messes

Do you have an innate knack for organization? Are you good at sorting, labeling, and finding effective ways of using storage space? Do you have good people skills with an innate ability to empathize and communicate in a personable way with frustrated people?

Then you are just the person needed to help these unorganized people out! You can charge between $30 and $90 dollars an hour or agree up-front on a flat fee to complete the project.

Each home will have different organizational needs. Your initial visit will give you an opportunity to discuss with your potential customer the areas of their space that most frustrates them. You can also find out how much they would like to participate in the sorting and organizing process.

You will need to discuss whether they are willing to dispose of or donate items that are seldom used or if their goal is to keep everything and just find a way to store it in such a way that it can be found and used easily.

This can include helping them acquire and set up shelving or finding the appropriate size filing cabinets or furniture to help them effectively store and organize their belongings.

Perhaps they need to find a way to store old paperwork, sort through and keep up with incoming mail, or perhaps just organize a flood of incoming books, magazines, and paperwork for their work lives.

#8 Creative Product Idea - Custom Labeled Wine

For Wedding, Anniversary or Birthday Gifts

Do you know how many people are out there searching for a good wedding gift? Or a good birthday or anniversary gift? A lot!

Moreover, many of them are looking for the same kind of thing. Something personal but not too personal, something the person can keep, but also something useful, something that is meaningful but is not too expensive. Here's a product that meets all those needs: customized wine.

For a wedding gift, you purchase wine made in the same year the couple are to be married. Then, as their marriage matures, their wine matures. They can keep it on display and enjoy a bottle on their major anniversaries.

As a birthday gift, you purchase wine made in the year of the person's birth and for an anniversary gift, you purchase wine made in the year of the marriage.

So, how do you turn this customized wine idea into a successful business? Two ways. You can either buy the wine unlabeled or create customized labels for it, or you can buy the wine already labeled and just add customized tags.

A simple web site is the easiest way to sell your product. There are enough people searching the Internet for unique gifts that this can work quite well.

Describe your service and then provide a form for people to fill out their orders. The customer fills in all the details, including what they want on the front and back labels.

You take the information, create the customized wine, gift-wrap it, and deliver it. It's that simple, just as long as the gift is with-in your area, if not, be careful there are strict shipping laws that you need to be aware of, when it comes to shipping liquor.

One of the best things about the business is that people will always be buying. There are always weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays to be celebrated and on every occasion, there are a large group of people searching for a unique present.

Provide that unique present and you have yourself a simple yet successful work-from-home business.

#9 If You Enjoy Taking Photos

Take And Sell Construction Photos

Be A Construction Photographer

Take photos of the various stages of a construction of a building and offer to sell them to the builder and the buyer. You will probably end up with around 100 good photos you can sell. You could make about $200 or more per set of photos.

If you own a good camera and like taking pictures, this could be an excellent way to make some extra money or even start a full time business. People often forget to take pictures when they are involved in a construction project. They are so busy taking care of all the needed arrangements that they don't think to take pictures through the whole process, even for remodels.

This is where you can step in and take the pictures for them. Digital cameras are great for a project like this. You could easily take 100 or more good pictures of a project, showing all of the different stages involved.

You can choose to take pictures of just about any project that is being built also, large and small, from huge bridges to home renovations. It is amazing to see how many people appreciate the documentation of changes to structures also. Keep good records of each time you take the pictures. The site, where on the site, the date and time, and anything else that will help explain and document your pictures.

If you check with the local town halls of most towns and cities in your area, they will always have the permits for future building sites, so that you can get the various addresses of projects that are going to start soon. This will help prepare you to take pictures even before the construction begins.

#10 Run "Game Nights"

Bring Back The Family Game Night Tradition - And Get Paid

All age groups enjoy an evening of games, offer to provide a space that adults can gather at and play games with other adults, for a small fee.

These games should be the typical family type played for fun, not for gambling. Most states and local governments require licenses for gambling, if even allowed at all.

Make sure that you check with your local authorities about offering this entertainment and assure them that there will be no gambling on the premises.

If you would like to start this 'business idea' on a shoestring budget, it is easy to pick up these family games at your local garage sales, donation stores, and store sales. If you can, pick up a few of each so that you will always have extra pieces to the games and enough games so that different tables can play the same games if they want to.

Make sure that you also have the official rules or any other rules that the group chooses to play by. If you laminate the game instructions and rules, they will hold up better for quite a while. Having copies in a game book, or binder, always nearby at the gatherings would be a good idea also. Keep all of the instructions and game rules in protective sheets in the binder.

Offer the space, tables, chairs, and refreshments then charge a fee for those who want to play. First, you will need to secure a roomy area to have these game players meet to play in. If you have a store or business already, you may be able to offer this fun in your business either after hours or during hours.

Remember, depending on the customers, these games can sometimes be noisy. If you choose games like Chess, that are typically quiet games, you may be able to have these game parties in places like card shops, gift shops, or bookstores. If you choose possible louder games, you can meet in stores that are more active; restaurants, community centers, bowling centers, coffee shops, and such.

Oftentimes family restaurants have large banquet rooms not used regularly, that you may be able to use for these types of gatherings. If they can offer some extra food items to your game players, they may be happy to offer their areas on a regular basis.

Once you have secured a place to hold the game party you will be able to advertise the game night. Make sure that you advertise by posting fliers in the place that you will have the games, also tell your friends and fellow workers that you will pay for the opening night for them to attend, if they can make it.

Ask them to invite people that they think may be interested and willing to pay the fee. Make sure that your fliers have the details needed: time held, cost, how late, what kind of games they can play, etc. Make sure that you include the information that the event will not involve gambling in any way, just enjoyable fun popular games.

You might also offer a door prize, for one or two persons, at the end of the evening; pool all of the names of the people that paid the fee for the evening and pick out of a bowl from all of their names the winner or winners that will receive a free game night next time.

Most of the work involved in this type of 'business idea' will be in the preparation before the game evening. You should remain also during the game night, making sure that everything runs smoothly. Help groups to start the different games and make sure that they all have a good time.
