3 Easy Ways To Identify Niche Markets
As internet marketers we are constantly talking about and trying to find good niche markets. For a beginner this can be a daunting task since we all want to have the home run niche that makes us money right then but he or she may not necessarily know where to go or what to do. Below are three good examples of how to identify a market that is makingmoney.
Two of these examples are sites that have specific products that are selling right now. The third is a directory that has websites that are manually reviewed by a human being. The sites that are in this directory have a specific viewing audience and are looking for products and or services related to the niche they cover.

A Directory Of Niche Markets
The directory I refer to is the DMOZ directory. It can be found at dmoz.org and has over 500,000 websites listed. It's listings can be drilled down to a niche that you can provide products and services for. For example let's say you know something about decorative eggs (the hobby and craft type). Type in eggs into their search box and you'll find at least five areas to choose from. Let's choose Shopping: Crafts: Nature: Eggs as this most closely matches. Here you'll see you can choose from a myriad of websites to get ideas from (maybe some have an affiliate program?) or you can dig down deeper into the shopping or the arts categories. Obviously there are many websites here so there is definitely an interest in engraved eggs(currently 880 monthly searches according to the Google Keyword Tool), gift egg (3600 monthly), and on and on. All of these are potential niches looking for a product or service.
Advice From The World's Largest Retailer
As the world's largest retailer why not capitalize on what they know about what's selling and what's not. From the Amazon.com website you can easily find what best sellers are out there. OK so I'm just thinking about what to put in and the word torch comes to mind (I don't know why, it just does). Type that into the search box and we'll see all different kinds from multiple departments. I see some chef's torches on there and I'm thinking about how my daughter loves to watch Iron Chef and others must too since it been on many years in many different countries.
Now pay attention as the next steps are kind of important. Look for the "choose a department" link and select "home and garden". Now we can zoom in even further into the cooking niche for torches (Grocery and Gourmet might work too).Click on the "sort by" drop down menu and select "best selling". Viola! Here are the top selling products for this department. As of this writing the number 3 product is the BonJour Brushed Aluminum Chef's Torch with Fuel Gauge. Hmmm..think you might be able to find wanna be Iron Chefs to sell to? Maybe even an info product on how to use it?

Let's Go Shopping!
This another site that you can find what's selling online. Scroll to bottom and click "top searches". These are the top 100 searches from shopping.com which is owned by Ebay. I think they know a thing or two about what sells.
These are perfect examples of niches, but you really want to drill it down further because at this level it's hard to compete for. Now click on a product/category. For example Night Vision is in the list right now. If you click on this link you will see a list of the keywords that shopping.com is getting for these devices. I see a good one: "bushnell night vision goggles". Google shows 720 searches, but I look down and see "bushnell night vision monocular" with 6600 searches. I think we might have found a niche with "Bushnell Night Vision".

This Can Be A Pain...
As you may know it can be a real pain to take the time to find a niche market and determine if it may be profitable or not. I know I have and do spend lots of time doing this for myself. Digging and digging and then doing what I can to figure out what to serve the market intead of building my business.
My friends Matt and Travis have developed a service called Insta Cash Keywords that can cut these chores out and provide you a couple of dozen niche keywords DAILY. Not only do they send you the keywords for a niche but insights and thoughts on what and how to promote to it as well. Matt and Travis both know a thing or two about finding a niche (you may have met Travis in the video above?) and have had many years of success making money off of them. What's also nice is that they limit the niches they provide to only so many people.
