This person is my Superhero because...
She is the epitome of the saying "life is what you make it" as she managed to even star in Wicked, which was only her 8th performance. Do you know how many people would kill to have such innate ability that they could star in a Broadway show so quickly? It's amazing!
From her Wicked stardom, and obviously her amazing performance, she went on to win a Tony award and to be featured in the original cast of the West End's Production of Wicked. West End is the Broadway of the United Kingdom
A Hero Outside of Broadway
Idina Menzel dated and married one of her Rent co-workers, Taye Diggs. While interracial couples are more accepted now than they were in the past, the couple still receives threats from people who thought that the idea of a white woman marrying a black man was grotesque. She is a role model to many girls, as Wicked is an extremely popular show, and having such a strong woman go against racial odds and not giving in to threats is what makes her even more of a superhero. If you can't go watch the Broadway shows
then at least get the soundtracks

She was also in the soundtrack of the movie Rent, obviously since she played the character of Maureen in it.
Why she means so much to me
Idina is a superhero(ine) regardless of whether or not you can find a personal reason to love her. However it just so happens I do have a personal reason for her being my superhero.
While I do love singing, I had never really gotten into Broadway shows. When my best friend forced me to listen to Wicked, I automatically rejected them - until I earn Idina sing No Good Deed. That song alone made me want to buy the entire album, and once I had that - and after I found out what the gaps in between the songs were - I realized just how great the show would be. Then I started to wonder if maybe I had been stubborn about not giving Broadway shows their fair chance. I came to love a lot more shows which helped me grow as a person, or at least I think, because it expanded my world to a whole new culture. It was almost an artistic rebirth inside of me. This very rebirth helped me to reconnect with my best friend Megan, we had started to grow apart so much that when we "hung out" we'd pretty much just watch TV and not talk, but my newfound love for Broadway had finally caught up with her love and suddenly we had new things to talk about. Idina's amazing voice can have many effects for people, but restoring a dying best-friendship? Who could ask for more?
Is this person your superhero too?

I have added your lens to the We Love Disney's Enchanted lens. Idina played the character Nancy in this Disney film.
P.S. I made this lens for the Squidoo Superheroes Project
I was invited to participate in the Squidoo Superhero Project, making 5 lenses in 2 weeks about the people who have inspired me, mentored me, changed the way I look at the world. The people I just want to say a big loud public THANKS to.If you buy anything from this page, you'll automatically (for free, of course) be sending a royalty straight to the Squidoo Charity Fund, which pays out to nonprofits like JDRF and Room to Read and Donors Choose every month.
