The Iditarod Sled Dog Race

What began in 1925 as a diphtheria serum run from Anchorage to Nome is now an annual race event through the interior of Alaska. The trail is dark and dangerous, with short daylight hours, potential for blizzards, rough terrain, and temperatures that can reach -80 F.

Iditarod Start

The Iditarod has a ceremonial start in Anchorage, and the restart (start of the real race) in Wasilla or Willow. For the past 2 years we have attended the restart, and wow...what an experience!
