Step-by-Step Tutorial: Internet Explorer Favorites

Internet Explorer is one of the most popular browsers available today. Though it has some problems and shortcomings, it still comes with lots of helpful features that make web browsing more enjoyable. One of them is the possibility to save favorite websites for future reference, aka Internet Explorer Favorites.

Step 1 - Create and Find IE Favorites

There are two icons in the toolbar to choose from. After clicking on the Add to Favorites one, a pop-up window appears and you'll immediately create a Favorite. After clicking on the Star button, you will see a drop down menu that shows all IE Favorites you saved. It's that easy.

Step 2 - Organize Your Internet Explorer Favorites

Organizing your IE Favorites is very easy:
First, click on the Star button in the browser toolbar and then on the Organize Favorites button.

After a pop-up window labeled Organize Favorites appears, select the corresponded button to organize your IE favorites by folder: Create Folder, Move, Rename or Delete...

Step 3 - Backup IE Favorites


  1. On the File menu, choose Import and Export... command. When the Import and Export Wizard appears, click Next.

  2. In the list of actions, select Export Favorites and then the main folder - Favorites

  3. Select Export to a File or Address, and then Browse to the location where you wish to store a copy of your Favorites list.

  4. Type a name for your backup, for example MyFavorites and click Save. Click Next, then Finish.

After you finish to backup favorites, the file is saved at the location you specified and can be opened in any browser as a traditional web page.

Step 4 - Import IE Favorites

To import IE Favorites, follow the same instructions as in the previous step, but select Import Favorites action in the "Import and Export..." menu.

Step 5 - Print Internet Explorer Favorites

Printing pages on the Web can be somewhat frustrating. Here's the easiest way to print your IE Favorites:

Select the text or graphics you want to print out and press Ctrl+P. Now, you'll see a pop-up window appear that is labeled Print. Press Ok when you're all done.
