The Essential Components of a Proper Iguana Cage
If you're considering buying a pet iguana, you should be trying to learn as much as possible about giving them the proper care. One of the most important questions is: What kind of housing does it need? There are many different options, from buying a cage to building your own enclosure. Whichever option you choose, there are certain requirements for the health and happiness of your pet. If you're looking for iguana cages for sale, here's a guide to help you choose the right one.

When it comes to your iguana, Size Matters!
Size - The first thing you should understand is that eventually, your iguana will grow to a very large size. Some people have the misconception that the size of the cage will limit the size of the iguana. This is not true. An iguana under ideal conditions can grow up to 6 feet long. Of course, it takes years for an iguana to grow to this size, so a cage for a 6 foot iguana isn't really necessary right off the bat. However, the iguana cage that you provide should be large enough to let your iguana stretch out and roam, and shouldn't cramp the animal in any way.The Zoo Med NT-3 Naturalistic Terrarium 18in x 18in x 18in

Help your iguana enjoy the sun's rays
Of course, the best source for UV rays is the sun - but glass and plastic terrariums often filter the UV light, and in direct sunlight they can become much too hot for your little iggy. A well ventilated, wire cage is a great way to allow your iguana to bask in the sun's natural rays. Just make sure there's a place for your pet to get shade, too. Remember that iguanas are cold-blooded animals, so need warm and cool areas of their cage to move to in order to maintain the correct body temperature.
Apart from the sun, your iguana cage should also include an artificial source of UVA and UVB light, to make up for days when there's not enough sunlight.

- I have a 40 gal screen top habitat right now. My iquana is still a baby. He is happy in it now because there is plenty of room for him to climb around. He is growing fast so I have to think about his future.
