We went to The Pheasant Run Resort & Spa (St. Charles) at Christmas last year and had a blast. They have 2 indoor pools. One is more adult-oriented, its deep and the floor gets slippery - it doesn't have much area around the sides of the pool, is flanked by a hot tub and is below the hair salon in the center of the brunch dining room (one level down and they don't open the pool when people are dining). Its cool to look at as there's a waterfall spilling into it.
The one that my kids loved though is an indoor/outdoor one. You swim from the inside to the outside by going underwater under a glass wall. The indoor portion has a very shallow end that gets deeper and also has a carpeted area for the family with loungers and tables. This is really cool during the winter as the water is heated enough to keep it warm even outside. Jump in the snow, then back in the water. Loads of steam rolling off the water when it meets the cold air. Really cool looking at night!
