Over the last few years we've watched more and more information delivered via the Internet. These days, if you don't join the pack and starting running you might as well stay on the porch. And what better way to keep up with the big dogs than with a portable electronic media reader like Amazon's Kindle?

Having been an avid eBook reader and even author, I'm intersted in Amazon's Kindle 2 because of the ability to transfer HTML files via e-mail. I'd like to read other e-books I've bought elsewhere on this device.

Imagine the good you'll do for Mother Earth. Every avid eReader convert will save countless trees over the course of their lifetime. A virtual library takes up very little room and is "virtually" carbon-free!

I read once that if all the Harry Potter books were lined up on end, they would span the equater time and time again. Now, that is a lot of trees. Admittedly, I can think of worse uses for trees, but why not make Smokey the Bear proud and help "cut down" the needless waste?

Amazon Kindle on Wikipedia 

Here is a little more information about Amazon.com's Kindle available on Wikipedia. And, speaking of Wikipedia. Guess who has free access to Wikipedia from anywhere, at anytime? You guessed it ... Kindle! How great is that? If you're like me, Wikipedia is my favorite site. Half the reason I use Google is to find entries on Wikipedia!

Amazon Kindle is a software and hardware platform developed by Amazon.com subsidiary Lab126 for reading e-books and other digital media . Three hardware devices, known as "Kindle", "Kindle 2," and "Kindle DX" support this platform, as does an iPhone application called "Kindle for iPhone". The first device was released in the United States on November 19, 2007.

The Kindle hardware devices use E Ink brand electronic paper displays, and are able to download content over Amazon Whispernet using the Sprint EVDO network. Kindle hardware devices can be used without a computer, and Whispernet is accessible without any fee.What is the Amazon Whispernet wireless feature and how does it work?, Amazon.com These devices also provide free internet access to Wikipedia. The Kindle is not available outside the US due to import/export laws and other restrictions.

On March 3, 2009, Amazon.com launched an application entitled Kindle for iPhone in the App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch owners to read Kindle content. Amazon announced the Kindle DX on May 6, 2009. This device has a larger screen than its predecessors and supports PDF files natively. It is marketed as more suitable for displaying newspaper and textbook content.
