I love Fireproof

Who in the heck ever said marriage was easy?

"...and they lived happily ever after." Such a lovely ending isn't it? BaHaHa - yeah, right. Unfortunately too few people understand that being married and staying married is W-O-R-K. Let's be honest; do you really think you can spend anywhere from 30 to 60 YEARS living with someone day in and day out and never seriously annoy each other? Of course not! Yet for some reason, people expect to maintain that giddy newlywed feeling forever, and are quick to throw in the marital towel when the "honeymoon" is over. So how come this happens so often?

The number one myth: It's the big stuff that causes the majority of divorces. Actually, it's the piddly stuff that causes the most trouble (except for money, of course, that one is a biggie). The small day-to-day annoyances are like tiny termites that multiply over time and eat away at the foundation of your marriage. Eventually, everything collapses and you suddenly find yourself contemplating an angry stranger and wondering what on earth happened to that wonderful person you married.

If married couples today all accepted the Love Dare as outlined in this movie, I'll just bet our divorce rate would be cut if half (maybe even quarters). It's just like my mom always said, "Of course the grass on the other side of the fence looks a lot greener but you still have to mow it, don't you?" :o)

Because the characters portrayed in this movie are "real", they could be anybody you know (or even you :o) The film does not pull any punches, but instead shows two very flawed, very human people struggling in their marriage. It is made clear that there is no magic fix for a failing marriage, other than the character's own determination and willingness to work through their problems together.
