In the UK, the track went to the Number One spot for two weeks towards the end of June, while it was the band's most successful recording in the United States where it peaked at Number Two.
Over the years, the song has been recorded by numerous artists, and has since become one of the most covered tracks in rock history. One of the most recent of these was a cover by English electronic group Olive, who enjoyed a Number One with it in America on the US Dance Chart.
But, somehow the original is always the best.
