Decorative Photography - Images Captured by Dave (aka "EditorDave")

I have enjoyed photography since junior high school many years ago. Capturing the beauty of a moment in a photo is an ultimate experience that I like to share. I've shared more about my passion for capturing moments of time -- "mental images" or "mental captures", if you will -- in a different Squidoo lens that you can see here.

I'm using this Squidoo lens as sort of a gallery of my photography work. I hope you enjoy visiting and seeing some of my "mental captures."

Some folks like to paint, some like to draw, but I like to use the camera!

Sailing ship on display at the National Maritime Museum, San FranciscoGetting started with photography may not be as messy as painting or drawing, but it takes the same amount of trial by error and practice to get better at it such that the resulting images are better than just normal "snapshots".

Getting a good photo includes the ability to see things that are different in otherwise "normal" situations. It takes an ability to understand colors, shading, contrasts, composition, and hues. An understanding of textures, shadows, action, and focal distances. A photographer never stops learning--there are always new things to learn, new visions to see, and new images to capture.

I'm sharing some of my "mental captures" here in this Squidoo lens. Please check them out and enjoy them. If you like them, let me know!

Also, if you have your own mental images that you have captured, go to one of my CafePress sites and, from there, create your own CafePress site. Let me know what you've put together--perhaps I can help you out by linking to it.

Beautiful images. My camera is a Fuji too but your photographs are much better than mine.

What kind of camera are you using now? I love photography too and enjoyed seeing how you've put your photos to work for you on Cafe Press.

For my general stuff, I use a Fuji FinePix digital. It's light, has 10X digital zoom, and has a lot of functions that simulate what I used to use when I had my own Nikonos II, Nikkormat, Nikon F, and Nikon F2... and when I used a Canon as a newspaper photographer. And some of those pics I've put on CafePress were taken more than 30 years ago (35mm color transparency film--Kodachrome, Ektachrome, FujiColor, SakuraColor)... and others were taken just a few months ago with my digital cameras. I really love capturing those images in time--and I love Squidoo as my way to showcase my photography and writing.

I've been using Nikon cameras since I was almost old enough to push the shutter release! My first Nikon camera was a water-proof Nikonos II -- that friends got me from Hong Kong after I mowed lawns for a full summer. Then, a year later, I added a Nikkormat SLR 35mm with a 50mm lens. Another year of mowing lawns, I got a Nikon F. Fantastic camera. I eventually got a Nikon F2--which became my main camera for more than 20 years. Now, I'm migrating to digital cameras.... and my Squidoo lenses feature a mix of both film (transparency/scanned prints) and digital images. This set of Nikon equipment and accessories help to make your photography works of art!
