Imaginative Play

Ranked #33,309 in Education, #590,025 overall

Even as they are bombarded with media imagery and stories, children today continue to spin their own stories and create their own worlds inside their own imaginative play.  As adult parents, family members, teachers, friends and mentors, we have the responsibility to encourage children to play and to play with them, to help them to use their play for learning that will often be more powerful than any learning they can do in school.  This lens on Imaginative Play is a resource for parents, teachers and education scholars wanting to know the history behind the study of imaginative (spontaneous/dramatic/fantasy) play and the state of current scholarship on Play.
