We love the Imaginext dinosaurs!
My oldest son absolutely loves dinosaurs, so he has some of the toys that you will see featured here. Among the items in his collection are the Imaginext Lost Creatures playset and a few of the Fisher Price Imaginext dinosaurs. He is now eight and has been playing with this line of toys for several years. These products not only feature realistic sounds and are easy to operate, but most are also very sturdy and durable, so they make great gifts for little ones and older kids alike.

While these toys are intended for children ages 3 and up, most are sturdy enough for younger children as well. Be aware, though, that the playset accessories, including the cavemen figures and weapons, are very small and definitely present

This product is a dinosaur fan's dream!
This big guy stands nearly 30 inches tall and is probably as close to the real thing as you can get. Controlled by wireless remote, this Brontosaurus walks forward, turns left and right, and stands on his hind legs. The head swings around, the mouth opens to emit realistic sound effects and his eyes blink. He can even throw a boulder.

Brontosaurus? No, you mean Apatosaurus!
The name Brontosaurus, which means "thunder lizard", was given to the largest land dinosaur that ever lived. This dinosaur has been confused with the Apatosaurus for years. The confusion stemmed from the fact that, when the original discovery was made, the Brontosaurus was reconstructed using bones "from more than one type of dinosaur". So, the dinosaur that society has been calling a Brontosaurus all these years actually consisted of an Apatosaurus body with the head of a Camarasaurus. Technically, the Brontosaurus does not exist.

The Imaginext Lost Creature playset
... the latest addition to our Imaginext collection.
My oldest received this Imaginext set for his birthday. The Imaginext Lost Creature playset is a pretty cool toy. Action points make the head swing around, the leg "stomp", and the tail fling boulders. Also, the rib cage opens allowing the figures to be "trapped" inside, which my boys especially like. This was a perfect gift for my son, the "dinosaur fanatic", and a nice addition to his other Imaginext dinosaur toys.

I hesitated to include this product here because there seems to be a lot of controversy about its quality. However, the item is so popular that I would have been remiss not to mention it. On Amazon's product page, there are 49 customer reviews, including 9 disappointing 1-star ratings and 14 enthusiastic 5-star ratings. The main complaint seems to be, not with the features, but with the mountain itself and how it falls apart fairly easily. In fact, one customer recommended it for older children who could reassemble it themselves or who enjoy building and rearranging pieces. For those who are interested in this product, I would definitely suggest a closer look at the customer reviews on the product page.
