....a down-to-earth diva.
Imogen Heap is more than just another pop-flick diva. I believe she's going to be a legend in music industry. She's the one among the selected female singer who I admired so much. For me, her songs and her musics are more than whatever-song-to-kill-the-time. Listening to her songs always makes me curious. It makes me keep questioning and be dazzled. What did she do to tell to us? What instruments did she use to make those whimsical sounds? How she did all of this?
But, anyway, I'm really glad I can listen to (and really enjoy!) her music. This lens dedicated to this fabulous woman. I hope you enjoy reading it, and if you've never heard her before, you will try listening to her songs and also feel blown away.
PS : Immi, keep going! We want more! :D

Immi's Songs Which I Like....
...actually all of them. But I try picking some to review :)
Among all her songs, "Let Go" is definitely on the top of my top list!. Actually, this song produced when she collaborated with Guy Sigsworth in Frou Frou. For some reasons, "Let Go" has an ironically beautiful tone for a song of breaking-down. I always played this song repeatedly in my Winamp whenever and wherever I need a trigger to release my emotion. Immi's fabulous vocal is really exposed here. She exceptionally has a true talent and mesmerizing voice.
First Train Home
Taken from her latest album, Ellipse, this song is an introduction of her newest musical journey. For me, Imogen Heap is one of the musicians who totally know who they are and what they want. People who aren't trying to be fake. As a first single, "First Train Home" actually is an exact song to reflect her idealism. Its lyric tell a story about a wishful hope to come home, to a place where you can be true to yourself. Maybe, this song is also a reminiscent to her experience in making music, especially when she moved for living alone in her family house to explore and create her Ellipse album.
Goodnight and GoA song from "Speak for Yourself" album. Immi is undoubtedly talented in songwriting. She's so good in crafting words to be a meaningfully secretive lyric. And somehow, many of her lyrics are truly expressed random attitudes and thoghts of Venusians :)
Let's confess together, girls. Don't you really think that "Goodnight and Go" is like a portion of our classy stalking action? You know, those weird and exciting things we often do when we have an eye to someone special. I'm like that, too :p
ShhThis song has hilarious lyric! When I first listened to it, I thought that it's about playing hide and seek. Or sneaking into a creepy house, a mad professor's lab or something like that. :)
But actually, "Shh" is about alien coming and someone and partner sneaking into their UFO. Oh my, I found these explanation on a website and Imogen actually admit it! A song about alien, what a creative mind she had :)
Speeding CarsI used my song as soundtrack of my life, especially for going through the break-up with my boyfriend. The Long Distance Relationship didn't work well. No offense, I felt really at --let's say, my lowest point in life. I didn't mad or angry to him anymore, but I'm still on my way raising up myself from dwelling in ocean of sadness. My girlfriends actually are spread in several different cities than mine, so I can't host a live ladies time to meet them.
But, thanks God, I have Imogen Heap at my playlist. Instead of getting carried away by the feel of loneliness, I try to write and write and be focus in my other business. I felt this song as a pretty nice support for me. Listening to this song, I feel as if Imogen Heap is one of my besties, whispering to me, encouraging with her words :
"Now, now, darling
Oh don't lose your head
'cause none of us were angels
And you know I love you, yeah"
Hide and SeekAgain, an Immi's song I labeled as soundtrack of my life. Based on several forums and websites I browsed, people also had various interpretations about the lyric's meaning. I think the lyrics is about losing someone very dear to you because of an affair. To be more precise, a woman losing her love because of her partner's been unfaithful. The man keeps offering consolation, but a heart already broke. The trust was faded away, and even both could reconcile, the scratch was hard to erase. "Hide and Seek" is a song about woman's feeling, the words she wanted to say, which might didn't come out. Imogen did a very well job in defining the situation, the feeling, and the words rambling in my head.
Imogen Heap "Let Go" on Youtube
These two videos are my most favorite version of "Let Go" sung by Imogen Heap. The first was her playing the song live. It's a mind-blowing performance, indeed. And the 2nd video was (maybe?) an official MV. I'm not sure. But, the visualization met the mood perfectly. I love them :)
