Do you REALLY want to improve your Golf game?

Most golf shots are within the 100 yard range. Many of them being around the green. Let me brief you on the basics of getting better at Golf. It's time to improve.

Do you really want to improve your Golf game?

The majority of golf shots are within 100 yards!

Did you know that the majority of golf shots are made within 100 yards of the hole? Ask yourself this question - Do you practice the majority of your time on the short game? Short game meaning Putting and Chipping.

PGA pro's shooting PAR (72) on a par 72 course on average hit approximately 55% of there shots from within 100 yards. That's 39 shots with about 28-32 being putts.

An average amateur scores a 99 on a PAR 72 course. This is a typical 27 handicapper that gets around the course playing bogey (+1) or double-bogey (+2) on each hole. Occasionaly they will have a par/birdie and triple-bogey or worse.

Let's take this 27 handicapper (h) and look at the percentage of shots within 100 yards. The Avg 27h putts 36 times in 18 holes. This same 27h chips the ball about 15 times per round. 36 + 15 = 51 shots so far. They also hit approx. 15 more shots within the 100 yard distance when approaching the green. Many of which might be a simple flubbed shot, poor sand shot, chipping over/under the green, etc. 36 + 15 +15 = 66 shots within 100 yards. That leaves 33 more shots from the tee box to the 100 yard marker. Generally drives off the tee and second shots to the green.

66 of 99 equals an amazing 66.7% of your shots are within a short distance. If you discipline yourself to practice these shots, which I may add are typically FREE to do so, you will dramatically imrpove as long as your are practicing with a precise plan, routine, goals, etc each time you commit to your improvement of the game.

So my question again is do you REALLY want to improve your Golf game? If you watch the pro's they are very proficient when it comes to the short game. Many times they 1 putt or 2 putt and seldom 3 putt. Most of the short chips and pitches are struck with the intent to get the ball within a 3 foot circle for a guaranteed par. I say guarantee because pro's have a 99% accuracy within 3 feet.

Practice your short game and I promise that you will improve and sometimes greatly. I myself practiced on the rug of my house during winter in the northeast just putting and chipping and went from shooting 100 to low 80's in one season. I've seen handicap's lower many times with fellow golfers also.

Here are some books/videos/balls that were a help to me and my golfing buddies and/or could be a help to you.

Thank you,
Candid Carl
