Sab says:

IMVU's a win. it's addictive and makes more sense, meet cool people and have lotsa fun... And I haven't heard of SL since I saw this poll.. Go IMVU! keep rockin!

Itagua says:

I feel as if SL is not that well functioned. It freezes all the time. Then you run into some weird person who only wants to have cyber sex with you. There's no chance to meet and interact with people like the game said in the beginning. IMVU is way better. It works better and it also gives us an update of the website just so it can be better for its gamers. It wants us to continue to play! And over all SL is just lame. There is nothing to do,

Meliissa says:

IMVU

Vinan says:

That also includes the IP harvesting as well as the real-life/SL information datamining since the beginning of 2011 and is STILL happening. People on Second-Life are too desperate and are willing to buy anything passed off as "security" which is nothing more than spyware devices to invade the customer's privacy. Beware.

Vinan says:

Yes, Second-Life is a ban-happy place. Currently Second-Life is involved in a privacy issue in which malicious users (i'm talking about those folly "Grid Watchers" and whatever else they call themselves) have abused the AR system within Second-Life in combination of data-mining customers. Second-Life is still choked full of bugs and sloppy service as it has in the past 2006. Nothing has changed except mesh. As for "High Quality" freebies, they are freebies. No freebie will be "high quality" as a more expensive, purchasable product. Second-Life is NOT a place of rosy candidness people paint it to be, particularly from people who use the game as "merchants" and receive income from SL. If anyone wants to review the data-mining crisis, here it is on the official Linden Lab page comments of customers who are tired of going through nonsense on SL and Linden Lab's apparent lack of care.
https://my.secondlife.com/rodvik.linden

Also, google is available at your disposal.

Second Life is still a dead place filled with the same old-way thinking it had back in 2006. Unless you enjoy a stalker's grooming platform where groups can literally harass you off second-life and slip into the real world, act like ego-tripping biggots, then stay away from this poor excuse of a "game". The only ones in the end who benefit are merchants who pocket your cash and practically can "block" where you go in this game. It's still filled with the same BDSM weirdo's and greedy people it had back in the older days.

Your better off spending your time in another game or mmo where the company actually treat their customers as customers and employees don't pretend like they don't "know anything" or "can't help you", take all your items/land from you, and behave as though your not allowed to know whats going on with your own account. This is nothing more than a money-pit ran by a crooked company(just google the articles). Stay away from it.

Vinan says:

Users get banned fairly easy on SL than they do really any other platform, no thanks to the sloppyness of LL's customer service and the fact that too, too many people treat SL as a 1st-Life Living Facebook than a game. Take away the Linden Tokens, lower the cost of private land to affordable for the average person, and 50% of these fun-killers would vanish.

How would you like to have a fat, monthly bill from LL when you can't even enjoy the service well without some idiot threatening to banish you to no-lands return, or their "ban-links" which you get banned from lands you've never been to. It's truly a waste of money. IMVU people rarely get ban, which is the point because the company ends up loosing customers more that way if they throw bans left and right like LL does if 7 or more people whine.

And believe me, the stuff they whine about on LL would be ridiculous in IMVU terms.

Vinana says:

@Mister Hollow

But you also fail to mention the constant lag, choppy animations, bugs, in-world schemes, poor customer service, drama and weirdos that goes along with Second-Life. 40% of the population is based upon 50+ basement-dwellers who cry over a game as if the whole world owes them something while making as much e-monies as possible by selling fake clothes, cars, and e-lands.

You make it all sound very easy hollow, as though players can simply sign up and "plug in", but it's too bad SL plays more by favor and power than it does by allowing players to be themselves and interact as they choose. Instead you have people who dictat on how they want things ran, and often this falls upon the shoulders of self-proclaimed "Land Barons" who boast about having control even on the Second-Life forums themselves and the fake SL "Designers" who don't bother to get their items patent outside SL but act as though their real-life, top fashion designers celebrities.

People constantly mix virtual reality with reality, and with the IP snatching running wild on the service, with the addition over-pricing of users paying 1,000 USD for a small island for the sake of competition shows only clear greed of the service provider and lack of regulations in the system where anyone can basically create anything dreadful as above and abuse it until enough people complain about it. People are literally giving out their money to 3rd party nobodies without any real responsibility/regulation (see Ginko Banking) as a professional company would, so much drama occurs.

Second Life hasn't updated it's graphics since it's creation. The building and default graphics are the same as the land, with the exception of Mesh, but even so that is currently blocked out expect for a small group of people who managed to wiggle their way to use when it was advertised as "coming to Second Life" this fall. The learning curve is so step for a beginner it's ridiculous. Often times people walk around just as snotty as the day is long on SL, so don't expect any "help" unless your willing to pay cash or provide some form of monetary value to them later (even by going to lands land-owners get paid for how much traffic they consume). People will act weird and avoid you 70% if you approach them and the hubs are almost nearly silent and dead without a few trolls here and there.

If you want to use a game where a bunch of whinny old weirdos tell you what to do with a thousand rules or "else" (aka ARs/Ban Threats), then smile as they take your money for their personal e-pockets then SL is for you. If your looking for fun, don't expect it, especially here. SLer's are mostly middle-aged losers and are more worried about keeping their spacebux going than actually having fun like normal e-folk and will literally destroy anything they don't "like". This includes manipulating and abusing the Ban System by squalling to the owners that they "don't" like something (and they often do this) to get people thrown off lands because the owners themselves are self-made online tycoons with sticks shoved far and wide up the poop-shoot.

Or, the second method (and commonly combined) is to drop AR bombs into groups to get people KO'ed from Second-Life. And it often works because LL makes it hard as banana's to get back into SL, plus they delete everything in your account, whether you've made it or not. Therefore, denying access to one's own creations and substantially talking all the e-moola upon that account with no refund.

Don't be deceived by all the "goodie goodie" hype people brag about SL being so great. Most are just peddling their e-business by promoting SL or have some weird RP/Family fetish in the game. SL is still just as filled with furries, losers and dingbats as it was back in 2007, with the expectation of those who don't end up taking the game as "serious business" and get e-cried on for doing so.

Linden Labs is still crappy company as far as customer service goes, and it likes to be super-secretive about everything, even to a user's own account. Their customer-service is just all around poor.

Stay, stay far far away from SL's stench.

IMVU ROCKS!

Imvu. SL users tend to have no life. On imvu, you actually get bored and find other things to do that isnt on the com :D

Country88 says:

Oh plus credits (which is what imvu uses as currency) is way cheaper to buy if you chose to than Linden dollars (Secondlifes currency). Third party imvu credit sites you can get like 40,000 credits for somewhere around 20 dollars while Linden dollar sites, from what Ive noticed, would charge you 40 dollars for 10,000 Linden dollars which I find kinda rediculous

Country88 says:

imvu cuz the avatrs on secondlife are ugly as sin and its so dang laggy on my computer. Plus imvu is so much more simple to use

nananana says:

imvu is better on my computer so i like it better. Second life i find to be boring and the graphic is bad on computer.

imvu :') better to me personally

IMVU from what I have seen has better graphics, better looking avatars, and it runs hell of alot smoother

Second Life is better than IMVU!

Blazee says:

Ill say second life is better than IMVU because you Can make a lot of money and you can make a lot of things in second life like cars you can sculpt building and you don't have to keep clicking everywhere your want to go and there is a lot more you can do on second life than IMVU You can play football, Basketball,Soccer, Be in a army or military anything you like to do you can do on second life which you can't really play any sports on imvu because you have to keep clicking

Sam I Am says:

I have been on IMVU for almost 5 years and SecondLife for almost 4 months. I am still learning what and how to do stuff. As for IMVU I learned to develop which seems quiet easy, On SL its a bit more complicated.. Serching for something to do on SL is a lot more functional and I love the fact that we can walk around. Making your avi is a a lot more involved then IMVU. But the plus side is you can mix and match better. One of my favorite things about SL is an adult can be an adult. as for IMVU the TOS is a pain in the A** even for developers. I find that to be discouraging and is what keeps me on SL. As for the avis looking better. Its called practice.
So all in all i send my vote to SecondLife. Sorry IMVU I'm moving up in the world.

Dollie says:

IMVU is HORRIBLE. Barely any interaction in my opinion.. the "rooms" are constantly packed to max and you can hardly find any good ones. Second Life all the way. <3

#realtalk says:

IMVU is awesome, yet infact the chatrooms couldn't get anymore depressing with self-centered,depressed 45 old fat bald guys that still get breastfed.Sit there trolling about how cool their avatar is,which infact they should be on there to interact like a normal human, yet they abuse the so called 'virtual reality',I'm going to try second life if this doesnt succeed in the chatrooms, I have lost all respect in mankind as we will never save ourselves from ourselves.I would love when virtual reality turns to face recognition, then those fake profilers behind a screen acting superior ,will be indeed a 'acne-prone coke bottle glasses wearing geek'.People of the world ,be alive you are the same ****ing decaying organic matter if you dont prove your humanity, you will become a statistic, you have been warned!

Isabella says:

Pros and cons to both, but I'd say SL

I'm a developer on both words and have been on both for many years. I agree with Blake's comment below 100%, but my personal preference will always be SL.

I just wanted to point out the "pro" below about IMVU getting "copyright protection right" by Tru Textures...LOL with escrow, texture/mesh black market, and the extractor loophole that IMVU has yet to address....you wish.

Musax1 says:

second life is better, you can do much more things.
Imvu sucks!

Jade says:

I prefer SL. Just like on IMVU, avatars are ugly when shadows are there. If you adjust your lighting to be shadowless (like a shadowless room in IMVU), the avatars are much better looking than on IMVU imo. Also, I love having the ability to change my shape as I please, rather than being forced to use some of the shapes that people derive from (not to be a bitch but there are a lot of terrible ones that are pretty popular). I still love IMVU, but I do prefer the avatars of SL. I think it really depends on what you're using it for though because both have pros and cons and features that the other doesn't. But yeah, to those who are bitching about the SL avis being ugly, you just need to change your light settings so there are no ugly shadows on your avatar because THAT all that is making it ugly. Well, unless you have an ugly shape, then that's just your own fault. LOL

Elizabeth Gallagher says:

Its like trying to compare chalk and cheese (btw IMVU is chalk and SL is Cheese, I will let you decided why I chose them that way.
I have been member of SL since April 2004 I have been running my own SL business since 2005 I have been making a RL living from said business since 2006.
I now supply my textures to members of many different virtual worlds from my websites (TRU Textures)

I have looked into IMVU from a business POV and here’s what I found:

IMVU Negatives:

1) You can’t walk (???)
2) Strange men with cartoon avatars IM me to chat before I have even logged into any chat room.
3) The avatars are butt ugly and totally unrealistic. Even with the head meshes that developers create in an attempt to make the avatars less child like, the new adult looking heads (that you buy) are too small for the rest of the avatar body mesh in particular the hands and feet look 5 times bigger than they should be, add a smaller developer made head and they look 10 times bigger
4) All of the flash pop up adverts makes me feel like IMVU is tacky
5) The animations and social interactions are so lame compared to most online social platforms.

IMVU Positives:

1) I actually LIKE the fact that there are no freebies in IMVU
SL has bred a huge amount of freeloaders who think the world (Virtual or otherwise) owes them a living or a freebie.
2) IMVU has nailed the copyright and IP theft issue, they nip it right in the bud at the point were a developer applies to become one because they have to read and agree to the developer contract which discusses in depth about copyright and the punishment for stealing another artists work.
SL on the other hand left the developers platform to run like the wild west and this has caused years of damage to the games reputation as thousands of people uploaded content into SL (mainly textures but with mesh now available that will soon follow) which are now so imbedded into users inventories and applied to builds illegally it would be impossible to “clean it up”
Linden Labs SHOULD do as IMVU do and that is
a) Make sure anyone wanting to become a merchant should both pay for premium account and verify their RL identity by doing so.
No one should be making money without their RL IDs being known by LL because should a copyright issue occur the person who wishes to sue for loss of income etc is left chasing ghosts as most thieves in SL use No Payment on Accounts and because of this have no verified their RL ID with Linden Labs,

SL as a pure platform is much MUCH better than SL the avatars are photo realistic (Inc genitals if that’s your thing)
Animations are as real as I have ever seen (inc sexual if thats your thing again)
You can walk, drive, ski, sail, fly or TP from any point in space to another.
As far as “virtual reality” goes SL wins hands down.
But because of the above the learning curve for SL is a lot steeper which maybe why some people prefer IMVU
The IMVU UI is very simple and easy to grasp because there are only 20 interactions needed once logged in.

If you just want the ability to chat and meet people IMVU is better.

If you want to explore virtual reality as good as it gets with current technology then SL is better.

Interestingly, There.com kind of combines both of some of the best things from both platforms.

Sonnis says:

i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee second life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! imvu SUCKS!!!!!!

Sonnis says:

second life is better. because u get to visualize ur character more who u want to be. and its a bigger world and its more free with sexual and explorable content. and its more emaginable
u can be who u want to be and and its just way better than imvu becauseucan actually move ur feet when u walk in second life and in imvu u just kinda teleport THATS WHY SL IS WAY WAY WAY BETTER!!!!!

KisaXSama says:

I think SL is better, now this is just my opinion, but it's because you can walk around, drive vehicles in real time, and actually have voicechat (unless forbiddin in said region)
IMVU is better at some times, because the avatars do look better, but there's really no freedom to move wherever, buy whatever, or look however you want.
In IMVU, you have to choose a skin, you can't edit your own like in SL. Also in SL, you can make your own shape and save it instead of buying one for over 300$, like in IMVU. Also, nothing is free in IMVU. Everything is over 300$. At least in SL, they have freebies that actually look half-way decent.

OVERALL, SecondLife is much better in my opinion, except for the fact it likes freezing once in a while. I still like both of em anyways.

I think Vinan needs to do his homework again Sl ban happy an very easy to get banned BS. The models in Sl look ten times better then IMVU ugly models an at lest I can do combat an fight with swords that swing an do damage plus use guns that fire an also do damage to the many combat huds in Sl. Where as in IMVU THERE is or combat hud at all so you have to rp it out an worry about godmoders IMVU is just a virtual IM place thats all it will ever be.

ppanther says:

Second Life is better than IMVU!

Luka Requiem says:

First off, to the user Vinan, I do know know where you get your sources. SL is not a ban-happy place. I recently tried IMVU to see the comparison: there is none. First off, IMVU requires you to pay to become age verified. That is just horrible. Now lets move on to second life. One of the biggest beefs is that you have to "spend rl money" on SL. Not true. First off there are a ton of high quality freebies designers release just to say they love you. Also, strapped for cash? In secondlife obtaining a job is quite easy. There are plenty of clubs and establishments that will hire you to work and earn linden. I have not had to spend a single usa dollar in years with the income I make on SL. Infact I make so much money on SL I turn around and pay my RL bank account now and then with cash.

Mister Hollow says:

Second Life is FARRRRR better. In terms of doing things, going around, exploring different sims that people make (and not just settings that you can sit on and ....well..only sit around on and chat.) 100% more freedom to the point where you can determine yourself on what body type you would want. IMVU doesn't offer this, and nor will it let you go beyond their distorted, caricature base avatars and whatnot. IMVU there isn't much freedom, and barely much opportunity in gaming or creation. You just can't do much on there except chat, sit around, and dress up an avatar shape you wish you can adjust all by yourself. (Body type, facial shapes...etc.) If anything, Secondlife's for creators and people who understand things beyond just point, click, sit and chat...or are innovative enough to just do more such as exploring and travelling around - seeing new people instead of clicking in to a room.

If I were to use IMVU, I'd rather use MSN. It's pretty much the same except you click, emote and chat.

Second life, I'm able roleplay an action scene, use tactics to destroy an enemy with bombs, lasers, traps. And rig a room for a pop up surprise party when the target person walks in. It's just THAT much freedom and has way more to do than IMVU can ever offer.
In terms of learning curve, IMVU is easier to understand...however, since secondlife is a fully open scripted world full of possibilities (you can script your own dog to feed and maintain or else it dies, sort of thing) and so much customization..that is the cost. A larger learning curve for a larger range of possibilities and customization. As creators get better in secondlife, the better 'graphics' secondlife has. It's introducing meshes...finally...but the game itself is 100% maintained by users, so graphic and textures is an optional thing. It varies completely from place to place. Secondlife also require a powerful rig if you want to play it at the full graphics...with shadows and all - but it does have it, and it's a big change to what you see in world itself. Graphics has never been bad -- it's all in the users.

I met some great friends in Second Life. A team of long lasting friends..and perhaps ever lasting as well. IMVU..I've met no one interesting except a great number of tweens and teens that love to complain. But that's only because, I'm limited to having to click a thousand rooms in search for some decent people. I'd rather go to a place and walk throughout each area to do my search.

DooWopps112 says:

Secondlife simply because you can screw =3

Slrocks says:

Second life is 100x better than IMVu,started off with SL then went to Imvu, and cryed because you cant walk.Clicking to move!!REALLY!!You dont even walk, u just appear, wtf so lame SL is more realistic, and IMVU are plastic barbies that you buy at The dollar store.

??? says:

im just saying second life because i have chatted to imvu adminstrators before and some people can be nice but the main people who run the joint are total assholes imvu has been on longer then second life further more its more imaginative for people who are into the whole vampire rpg other things to it would even appeal to anyone even the simple twilight fans

Blake says:

I've been on both, and I'm a creator on both. Both have pros and cons. IMVU is much simpler to use, but in terms of customization, is nowhere near SL. IMVU uses clothing meshes that determine your body shape and stretch like a body mesh, though SL is developing meshes at the moment. IMVU's biggest advantage is it's low learning curve- it's simply a chat room + a dress up doll. There is no physics engine, no walking, no skies, no sprawling world. SL has a much steeper learning curve- there's walking, flying, camera control, opening boxes, building, adjusting clothes, etc. This is because SL is not a chat room with dress up dolls, it is a virtual world that you can explore in. As for which avatars look better, IMVU avatars will often have a stylized look. A base avatar for IMVU is as ugly as a base avatar for SL, though- it really matters where you shop in both worlds. On IMVU shopping is much easier- everything is in the catalog. However, in SL, if you put effort into finding freebies and doing hunts, you can get a very good avatar at little to no cost. In addition, SL avatars can be very varied. Unlike on IMVU, clothes do not determine an avatars shape. If you are attempting to create an avatar with a specific body shape, SL is the place to do it. If you want a non-human avatar, SL is far better than IMVU. Quadrupeds (ferals) and giant dragons are possible in SL, and the furry avatars are significantly better. As for CPU and performance... IMVU, being simpler and less feature-filled, is better for slower/older/smaller computers. It generally has less lag. SL is for better computers, and does tend to crash on computers that can't handle it. I recommend Phoenix Viewer as it's faster, or Snowglobe.
Bottom line: For a chat room with dress up dolls that doesn't lag or take up lots of space, use IMVU. For a virtual world with customization and lots of features that does require a better computer, use SL.

TheHollywoodKid says:

SL is wayyyyyyyy better than imvu because first off imvu is to got damn easy to get credits. Imvu also lacks of graphics. Yeah sure imvu is a cool experiance n all after u go shopping chat with ur friends but after that its really nothing to do. I like buying cars and stuff like that but on imvu theres really no point in buying cars or buying a new crib, because u cant drive theme or reall do anything in the crib. Imvu also gets boring because ppl pretty much dress in the same outfit and look the same. So my advice is. If ur looking for a challenge and more ppl to meet up with go with Secondlife.

Sterling Ravine says:

Due to my creative and business interest, I researched and tried both of these programs out for the first time this weekend. It is obvious that, while both programs have some similarity, IMVU is a very simplified program geared towards a much simpler audience. The Alexa traffic rankings show IMVU ahead of Second Life, but IMVU is destined to have its audience outgrow it, since it's little more than a glorified chat room. Second Life has a much higher leaning curve, but its depth will surely encourage more longevity.

SECONDLIFEEE says:

About IMVU

Click the logo to visit the homepage of IMVU!IMVU is more of a 3D avatar chat than a virtual world, but it does have a lot of features of the latter. You can customize your avatar and 3D environments, buy special game currency, and create and sell virtual items. Every IMVU user gets his or her own homepage which they can modify to their liking. This social network has a lot of groups and "neighborhoods" (such as fantasy, goth, vampire and sci-fi) for people with similar interests to hang out and chat. IMVU has over 100 million members, and as much as 100,000 are online at all times.

You can also exchange IMVU currency for real money with 3rd party exchange services.

About Second Life

Click here to go to the Second Life homepageSecond Life is a virtual world developed by Linden Lab. The members can interact with each other through their virtual avatars, participate in group activities and explore. You can create virtual objects using built-in 3D modeling software, and even program their behavior. Users are required to be at least 18 years of age; younger ones may use the "teen grid" only. SL has a diverse international community with many interesting subcultures such as steampunk, neko and medieval fantasy. Unlike in IMVU, there are no restrictions on avatar appearance - they don't have to look human at all.

Second Life currency is the Linden dollar; these are used for buying, selling or renting virtual property, and may be exchanged into real money.

I think both sites have their benefits and downfalls.

I have been on IMVU for years, and was even a developer on there. Just recently, I reactivated my SL account.

BOTH have rather piss-poor customer service. Send a help ticket and both are likely not to respond or just blow you off, even when it is for something rather important.

But I am not on them for their customer service. I am on there for the community.

In IMVU, you are more likely to meet underage prepubescent kids who want nothing more than to attack your avatar or "have sex" with it, while constantly "attacking/kissing/hugging" you, which can only be blocked by VIP. The lack of intelligence from most of these people is rather appalling, also. Not to mention, most are from some third-world country and cannot speak English. Mind you, I have nothing against foreigners on sites, but at least attempt to learn the language if you go to an English-only room.

Also, MOST people who have been on IMVU for awhile, tend to be rather hostile and rude to newbies. You do not even have to be a n00b. If you are new, and have a Guest_ tag in front of your name, more than likely you will get ignored.

SL is somewhat better about this. People are much friendlier when it comes to the "newbie" aspect of it. And if you ask them a question, they are glad to help! Just try asking a person in IMVU... they will see you as a nuisance and just continue talking with their IMVU "clique."

It is hard to meet people in both worlds when you are still new. I met people quickly in IMVU, but I joined YEARS ago shortly before they made the site 13+ (back when it was 17/18+), and people were much more pleasant as most were also new to the site.

SL has been around just as long as IMVU, maybe a tad less, but people (even "Senior" members) are just as pleasant as new ones.

For this, I am saying SL. Unless you at least purchased your avatar name and do not act like a newbie, people may pay attention to you in IMVU. People will in SL, and you can get your voice heard.

I am still a newb somewhat to SL, but I have already customized my avatar to my liking and have purchased several things, and I am fascinated with the world structuring and abilities to move in ways you can't in IMVU.

My mate has also recently joined, and meeting people takes more time in SL, but I have already met a few people. :>

Second Life in all ways. Complete Freedom to walk where you please. There's a community for EVERYTHING! fashion, models, sci-fi, Gorean, vamps, Medieval, Fantasy, Star Trek, Star Wars, Shrek, Avatar, whatever you can think of, there's a sim or way more for it. Personally I went from IMVU to Second Life because of gor. More possibilities in SL. Once in Second Life (2 years now) I left gor and started modelling, Roleplay in a Fantasy themed sim as an elf and I make Lindens as a stripper, haha :) it's fun, you can get your own thing going on instead of having to follow others. IMVU just feels... restrained too much.

'Complete' freedom is such a broad-use. Perhaps you have not been on Second-Life long enough to see the restraints, problems, and censorship that Second-Life has bee ridden with or are just one of the many users on Second-Life satire with political correctness and worship of Linden Labs. Sure IMVU doesn't include flying and walking around, but is far less complicated than Second-Life were often drama lurks and people with big e-ego's run the 'fair' markets. Not to mention the rip-off pricing on Second-Life just to have a piece of land that is never too big in prim-size to actually hold what you want, without opening wallets far and wide which people pay an initial up to 1,000 USD dollars just to own these types of lands, or settle for a cheap little parcel on the laggy main-lands. Animations smoother in SL but is behind any recent mmorpg if you want actual smooth, moving graphics. Cars and vehicles are practically useless on the maind-land roads, "Strippers" as you put it are generic face-painted-dolls who receive measly pay and are practically everywhere in the adult regions, and corruption. It's no wonder SL received an F from the Better Business Bureau. Consumer beware.

Aside catering to an obvious older-age group, Second-Life is NOT the pretty picture advertisement on their front web-page.

Don't expect anything exciting than a mundane club, replaying the same animations, lindens, lands so strict to the point it's a wonder why some of them call themselves "combat" zones, more lindens, and those with a control-ego with the size of Mount Everest. People that are different often get ostracized by the lovely Second-Life "community" even over something as simple as a different looking avatar, just read on the forums. There are groups also on SL who have become so obsessed over the platform that they have taken to themselves to "monitor" the grids as a form of wannabe-miniature "police" groups acting as mini lindens. The hubs are usually dead quiet and are filled with trolls. To operate on Second-Life, you must have a hard hat and skin. The experience is totally different from IMVU, and not in a good way. Just google and you'll see the hidden mess often associated with SL.

I've toyed with the idea of getting involved in Second Life, but haven't actually registered. I hadn't heard of IMVU before -- sounds interesting too.
