    You are right, sometimes you put a ton of work into a page and get no results but then sometimes you get a ton of results from a page you weren't expecting it from

    I take relevance over page rank. I have also seen that links on relevant pages tend to be more important than the anchor text in the link. Overdoing it with the keyword text can actually work against you I think.

    Excellent advice here, 5***** and favourite. I like especially the bit about "building gradually over time" patience is not really an "in" word nowadays, but it should ;-) SY

    Great work! I know I always look at the Pagerank of a site I visit with the Google Toolbar, and now that you mention it, it might be a distraction from the content. I predict this lens will at least be a Pagerank 2 next time around!
