How You Can Generate Traffic Using MySpace Free

If you have ever used MySpace, you'll know it's very user friendly. But generating targeted traffic using it is a whole different story. It can be really difficult but that doesn't have to be the case! Just like everything else you do, it's much easier to do it when you keep your focus tight on what your goal is.

MySpace has over 32 billion page views a month. In case you are not familiar with internet statistics, that's about 2.5 more daily users than Google. Now you know how powerful MySpace is. Keep in mind that if you want to generate traffic from MySpace, make sure you do not come across as marketing. If you do that, then you expect a lot of nasty comment and a ban on your account.

Your profile is about the most important thing in your MySpace campaign. It shows people who are you. Do NOT use your real name, age, etc. Not even your email. Open a new email account just for this campaign and expect to be flooded with new mails everyday. What you want to do is create a profile that show a specific niche interest, eg clubbing. What you want to do is:

1. Use an approriate background for your profile page. Say, a bunch of people dancing for the niche clubbing.

2. Use some music to set people into the mood or feel.

3. Set your age at between 20 and 35 (not implying that you are old). That's the demographic of people using Myspace. You want to come across as being able to connect with them.

4. Come up with interesting name that relates to your niche. For eg, Christina Loves Clubbing. You replace "Loves" with the heart shape using HTML. Or use copyright symbol.

5. As for your content, make sure it relates to your niche too. Say you really like clubbing and there's a big party coming up that you are going and invite them to go too. Then insert your link to your website on clubbing. Do not mislead people. It does nothing to achieve your goal.

6. Choose appropriate MySpace URL. Do a simple keyword research using some free tools. You can use Overture Free Keyword Tool. Or I would recommend Keyword Elite. Find some well targeted terms and use that term in your MySpace URL.

After your profile's done, you want to add friends right? What's the use of a profile if you don't have any friends? But before you add friends, you have to find them.

When you search for friends, make sure you search for those with large number of friends themselves. This is important because it will take you forever to add friends one by one AND if they already have a large number of friends, they will probably say yes to your request. Also, these popular people are often other people's top friends and often have other people who are just as popular or more popular than themselves. See where I am going? Once you have added these popular people as your friend, you can post comments and bulletins on their page.

To find these popular people, you can either

1) Use MySpace Search
2) Browse MySpace Profile
3) Use Google or the like.

Now, all of them equally easy to use. Searching using the big G, however, lets you find people in your niche with high PR rating. This is really easy to do, just use their advance search feature and target only myspace.com and use exact phrase "profile". I'm guessing the other features are pretty straightforward to use.

Remember, everything you do, focus on your goal. When we create the profile, everything is created with our niche in mind. This goes the same with adding friends. Target friends with same interest or niche.

When you have several hundred friends, every now and then, people will invite you as their friend. That's when you get popular automatically.

Increasing Traffic Through Comments 

Raking It In

So you have a lot friends by now. Maybe 2000, maybe 3000. What now? Start posting comments! Comments is the easiest way to get traffic. But what's the use of comments if nobody looks at it right? So what you want to do, is post comments on popular people's myspace. It is preferable to post comments on profile that allows html. When html is enabled, you can post a text link instead of just a normal text.

Also, you can add videos, games, pics to your comments. These will get you some serious attention. More attention = more traffic. Once you their attention, make sure you add an "add me" button to your comments to make even MORE friends.

Other than popular profiles, other good places to put your comment includes all popular video clips. If you spotted a video with a lot of views, leave a comment for it. Just make sure it's relevant though, or it will just be plain spam. Popular videos are most of time trailers of movies not yet released.

Posting comments can be a very potent way to drive some serious traffic, but you have to have a lot of people seeing your comment. Make very sure your comments are in high traffic places.

Using Your Your Blog For More Traffic 

When you create your MySpace account, MySpace has automatically created a blog for you. You'll only need to post to it.

However, before you do that, be sure to customize your blog to suit your specific niche. A general rule to note is never to use dark backgrounds, instead use something light.

When posting to your blog, sound like a young person... if you sound too mature, response tend to be lower. Ask questions and encourage readers to participate. Get people to subscribe to your newsletter if you have one. If you don't, start a new series. A subscriber tend to be repeat vistors. You can get people to subscribe b giving them a free report or if that is too troublesome, you can instead start a "Tip of the Day" series. Be sure to SAY you're an expert in the subject and try putting as much helpful information as possible.

Once you have a blog, join a blog group! Join a group that has a similar theme to your blog. This gets you a backlink and advertises your blog free.

While you're looking for blogs to join, you can invite people to visit your blog too! If you have a well optimized blog, these visitors can convert well.

The next thing you want to do is adding a podcast to your blog. Adding a voice playback adds a personal touch to your blog. Visitors feel like they know you.
It can just be for the introduction or it can be for the whole blog.

Be sure to advertise and tell people about your blog everywhere you go. Your blog is part of your MySpace account and you'll be surprised how many of them actually ends up in your account page.

I'm going to assume you know how to do all this. If not, MySpace is pretty user friendly and unless you haven't been using the internet much, you'll be able to figure them out pretty fast.
