Side Box Jump
This workout consists of placing a box or some sort of obstacle to your side. This has to be high enough to give you some sort of challenge, but also you must also be able to jump over it. What you need to do is simply jump over the box or obstacle and jump back. Perform 20 repetitions of this workout. As you get better, you can increase the height of the box to make it more challenging. Remember to breathe and perform the workout correctly. This way you get the most benefit.
Weighted Box Jump
This is a variation of the side box jumps. The workout is essentially the same as the side box jumps, except that you put the box in front of you and hold weights as you jump over the box. Holding the weights forces your body to become conditioned to this, which will allow you to increase your vertical jump when you are without the weights. This is called a power exercise.
Weighted Squats
This is an important part of building strength in your legs. This workout is a variation of squats and is very effective in helping you increase your vertical. The basic aspect of this exercise is that you hold weights in your hands and you squat down and rise back up.
