The Incredible Hulk Series

The Incredible Hulk is a comic book character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and is part of the Marvel comic universe, first appearing in 1962. Aliased as Dr. Bruce Banner, he is a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde fashioned character who appears after Dr. Banner becomes angry - effectively shape-shifting his body into the green-skinned Hulk.  The Hulk has superhuman powers, and can bend metal and pick up great amounts of weight with ease. In addition, he is seemingly impervious to bullet and missile attacks, only becoming stronger and more ferocious as he keeps getting angrier. Once the Hulk becomes calm, he once again reverts back to the form of Dr. Banner.

The Hulk is one of Marvel Comics' most legendary characters, bringing about a great deal of merchandising and video game applications. It first came to TV in 1978, as a live-action series starring Bill Bixby and and Lou Ferrigno. The series returned in 1982, and then again in 1996 as two separate Incredible Hulk animated television series. The feature length Incredible Hulk film Directed by Ang Lee and starring Eric Bana debuted in 2003, and its sequel is slated for release on June 13, 2008.

About the Incredible Hulk

The original comic book series began in 1962, featuring a gray-skinned Hulk. Due to color reproduction restrictions in the printing process, the Hulk was given a more green-tinted appearance. From issue #2 onwards, the Hulk was officially green in color. Early issues of the Hulk also featured characters such as General Ross - intent on finding and destroying the Hulk with military backup...and his daugter Betty, who befriended Bruce Banner and resented her father for what he strove to do. These characters later appeared in the animated Hulk series of the early 1990s.

1963 brought the crossover between the Fantastic Four and the Hulk, depicting the famous hand-to-hand combat battle between The Thing and the Hulk. The Hulk later faced enemies including The Leader - a gamma-mutated ex-scientist with a huge head. The Abomination was another gamma mutant much like the Hulk...only more ferocious in looks and strength - and forever stuck in his mutant form. At one point, the Hulk even met Ghost Rider - who was able to calm him back down into Bruce Banner with his touch.

In recent times, a series known as Planet Hulk features a group of superheroes called the Illuminati, who imprison and rocket the Hulk off to a distant planet, after his destruction of Las Vegas. The rocket ship accidentally enters a worm hole - sending the Hulk to a distant planet by mistake...as a result, he allies with the inhabitants and readies an assault aiming toward Earth...

Marvel Zombies is another great series featuring the Hulk. In an alternate dimension, all of the Marvel superheroes are flesh-eating zombies - and the Hulk is amongst the most ferocious of them all. Don't miss this great mini series!

Hulk (2003 Movie) on DVD & HDDVD

It was an "either you liked it or you didn't" kind of movie. Certainly the thinking-man's movie, this one gave an in-depth introspective into Bruce Banner's life, with his struggle in holding back the Hulk within him. The CG-scenes were outstanding, although few (hence the first statement in this paragraph), and the storyline was captivating.
