Information about the lucky symbol of the Indalo
In the mid 1950's, a group of artists, led by painter, archaeologist and writer, Jesus de Perceval, a disciple of the Barcelonan philosopher, Eugenio d'Or, founded a painting movement known as the The Indalianos. According to Eugenio, the "Indal" was the "most important historic survival of a shining culture".
The Indalo is a lucky symbol of Almeria and, in particular, a small pueblo called Mojacar. For centuries this part of Spain was ruled by the Moors of North Africa and the women of Mojacar were kept behind the veil. Consequently, this pueblo or village was sometimes called the "Village of the Covered Ones". There is a white statue of a veiled woman outside the church and another down on the 'playa' (or beach) just below Mojacar village. Perhaps for this reason, it is apparently sometimes referred to as a "Village of Witches" where faith healing, spells, and magic are supposedly practiced. You can certainly see the Indalo symbol almost wherever you look in Mojacar or Almeria, and in many parts of Andalucia.
Spiritual and miracle workers tell people that the symbol possesses a strong energy field and that it extends life. On some Spanish maps the province of Almeria is marked as a place of paradise and peace and the Indalo symbol, with its magical power, is supposed to protect people from the 'evil eye' and other bad spirits . . but apparently, only when given as a gift.
There are other examples of the Indalo in other parts of the world, although none are so prevelent as the Almerian Indalo. In Italy the Indalo shape represents pre-historic "divine proportion", similar to what Leonardo da Vinci depicted many centuries later by drawing the figure of a man with his arms opened in a circle which he named Vitruvian Man (after the great engineer and architect of the time) - the human body inscribed in the circle and the square being the fundamental geometric patterns of the cosmic order. Of course, in North America, the Indalo is best known as the Rainbow Warrior and is a symbol of the twelve spiritual energies of the body.

Here's why I'm making this page
good-luck-gifts.com , and I really like the Indalo shape. I have painted this Indalo man / woman symbol many times in my work and so want to spread the word about it. I am collecting information; so if anyone has any more detail, I would love to hear about it.

Do you paint or craft lucky symbols as well?
Perhaps you would like to comment:
It has been shown that, in general, lucky symbols, charms, etc, work on the power of belief. That is, if you THINK it will improve your luck - then it almost certainly will. Many people obviously think the same beacause lucky charms or talismans are carried or kept by all sorts of people. Famous people too, like Rooseveldt, Napoleon, and so on, have often carried a lucky amulet.
