    Start small. If you can set aside just $50 a month you can set up an automatic investment plan and an IRA (either Roth or traditional) at T. Rowe Price. I started by automating my savings -- and I'm not ashamed to say that when I started, all I could afford was $10 a week. But the very act of saving that little bit of money empowered me to save more -- and make smarter money decisions.

    Hi -- thanks! I did a lot of research while putting this together. If you count all the investment mistakes I made before I discovered index mutual funds, it was VERY EXPENSIVE research...
