Volunteer Abroad Thivandrum, Kerala, India Volunteering

The state of Kerala is on the southern most tip of the west coast of India. It stretches along the coast of the Arabian Sea and is separated from the rest of the sub continent by the steep Western Ghats. With the Arabian Sea in the west, the mountains on the east and a wealth of rivers, Kerala enjoys unique geographical features that have made it one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Asia. It is said that Thivandrum easily disguises itself as a laid back quiet city to the casual observer. Look closer at you will find an equable climate, a beautiful shoreline, tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters, lush villages, waterfalls, sprawling plantations, magical festivals and an exotic cuisine.

Kerala is India's most advanced society; a major reason for this achievement is the state's focus on the service sector such as education and healthcare. Life expectancy rates are well above all India levels, so true are the female literacy levels and the high number of quality healthcare options available.

Our programs are located in Thivandrum and the surrounding villages. The best time to travel is the end of November - February when it is warm and dry. Trivandrum has a beautiful Kovalam beach. The hottest months are March, April and May, the monsoon hits in June and again in October.

Our programs allow you to work with rural children and youth in southern India. Our programs allow you to take part in meaningful community service work, while discovering the people, sights, smells and tastes of India.

This is a great opportunity to make life-long friends, learn a new culture from the inside out and discover that one person really can make a difference.
