Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs: Filmography
Learn about the films that were released.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) is set in 1936. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is assigned by government agents to locate the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis do, to make them invincible like the Israelites in the Old Testament, who revered it as the dwelling place of God. The Nazis are being helped by Indiana's nemesis Rene Belloq (Paul Freeman). With the help of his old flame Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) and Sallah (John Rhys-Davies), Indiana manages to recover the Ark in Egypt. The Nazis manage to steal the Ark and capture Indiana and Marion. Belloq and the Nazis perform a ceremony to open the Ark, but when they do so, they are all killed gruesomely by the Ark's wrath. Indiana and Marion, who survived by closing their eyes, manage to get the Ark back to America, where it is stored in a secretive government warehouse.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) is set in 1935, a year before Raiders. Indiana escapes Chinese gangsters with the help of singer/actress Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) and eleven-year-old taxi driver Short Round (Jonathan Ke Quan). The trio crash-land in India where they come across a village whose children have been kidnapped. A destructive cult led by Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) have also taken the holy Sankara Stones, which they will use to take over the world. Indiana manages to overcome Mola Ram's evil power, and rescues the children and returns the stones to their rightful place, overcoming his own mercenary nature.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) opens in 1912 where a thirteen-year-old Indiana (River Phoenix) attempts to recover an ornamental cross belonging to Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, a task which he finally completes in 1938. Indiana and his mentor Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) are assigned by American businessman Walter Donovan (Julian Glover) to find the Holy Grail. They are teamed up with Dr. Elsa Schneider (Alison Doody), following on from where Indiana's estranged father Henry (Sean Connery) left off before he disappeared. It turns out Donovan and Elsa are in league with the Nazis, who captured Henry in order to get Indiana to help them find the Grail. However, Indiana recovers his father's diary filled with his research, and manages to rescue him before finding the location of the Grail. Both Donovan and Elsa fall to the temptation of the Grail, while Indiana and Henry realize that their relationship with each other was more important than finding the relic.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) is set in 1957, making it nineteen years since The Last Crusade, and thus acknowledging the real-life passing of years between films. Indiana is having a quiet life teaching before being thrust back into his old adventuring. He races against agents of the Soviet Union, led by Spalko (Cate Blanchett) for the crystal skull. Indy's journey takes him across Nevada, Connecticut, Peru, and the forest of the Amazon in Brazil. Indiana also encounters a rival archeologist by the name of Mac (Ray Winstone) and a greaser named Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf), as well as Marion.

"I'm allowing you to tag along. So why don't you give your Mighty Mugg a rest. Okay doll?"
Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr., better known as Indiana Jones or Indy after his pet dog, is a fictional adventurer, professor of history and archaeology, and the main protagonist of the Indiana Jones franchise. George Lucas created the character in homage to the action heroes of 1930s serial films. Indiana Jones first appeared in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The film was followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles from 1992 to 1996, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008. In addition to his film and television appearances, the character has been featured in novels, comics, video games, and other media. The character is also featured in the theme park attraction Indiana Jones Adventure, which exists in similar forms at Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
The character is most famously played by Harrison Ford. He has also been portrayed by River Phoenix (as the young Jones in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), and in the television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles by Corey Carrier, Sean Patrick Flanery, and George Hall. Doug Lee has supplied Jones's voice to two LucasArts video games, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, while David Esch supplied his voice to Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. Tom Selleck was originally cast in the role, however due to commitments to Magnum PI, Selleck was replaced by Ford. The character's iconic outfit was designed by Jim Steranko. Jones is notable for his bullwhip, fedora, leather jacket, and fear of snakes.
This Indiana Jones Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a whip prop and hat. A great Mighty Mugg to have and should be added on everyone's wish list to collect. The detail is great and the smirk is excellent. Much like the Star Wars urban vinyl figure of Han Solo, this looks great and is one my favorites.

Cairo Swordsman Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 1

"I brought a knife to a gun fight -- and for that, I'm famous enough to have my own Mighty Mugg!"
The Cairo swordsman (Terry Richards) from "Raiders of the Lost Arc" appears when Marion is being kidnapped by Nazi forces. The entire crowd moves aside when the swordsman appears, swinging his scimitar and coercing Indiana into a battle. The archaeologist sighs, pulls out his pistol and shoots him, causing the crowd to burst into cheers. The gag came about because Harrison Ford was suffering from dysentery and did not want to spend three days filming a "conventional" fight. On the first take, Richards "took a minute-and-a-half to die", so on the next take, Ford shot him so quickly that Richards fell over in surprise. Ford feels sorry for Richards now, because "he worked so hard on that swordplay".
Richards feels "it turned out to be the funniest thing in the film", and was surprised he was not cut out of the picture. Many (including Lucas) dislike the brutality of the gag, and Richards concurs the joke is very morbid. Nevertheless, it was placed 38th on Empire's Top 50 film gags list, and it is one of Spielberg's favorite scenes in the series. Kenner released a 3.75" figure of the swordsman in 1982. Walt Disney Parks & Resorts released a figurine of the swordsman in a box set in January 2001, (to scale with the Micro Machines vehicles models), and a 4.5" figure in August 2003. In 2008, Hasbro released a 3 ¾" action figure, an Adventure Heroes figure, and a 12" figure.
This Cairo Swordsman Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a sword prop. Yet another one from the Indiana Jones collection that I like. Nicely done with good details and the sword prop really adds that final touch. Besides, who can ever forget that classic scene of bringing a knife to a gun fight? ;-) It appears that most of the Indiana Jones collection is hard to find, so again, if you see this one, then grab it!

Mola Ram Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 1

"You don't believe me, Dr. Jones? You will, Dr. Jones. You will become a true Mighty Muggs collector.""
Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) is a character from the "Temple of Doom" -- the main antagonist and the Thuggee high priest. He has made Pankot Palace his lair and wants to use the five Sankara Stones to create a temple to worship Kali. To that end, Mola Ram enslaves the children of a village that had one of the Stones (making the total of his collection three), to mine the other two that are underneath the palace. He also brainwashes humans with the "blood of K%u0101l%u012B Ma" potion to make them devout followers until they are exposed to a burning sensation. Indiana eventually uses the Stones to burn Mola, who falls into a river and is mauled by the crocodiles below.
Mola Ram is named after a 17th century Indian painter. Lucas wanted Mola Ram to be terrifying, so Huyck and Katz added elements of Aztec and Hawaiian human sacrificers, and European devil worship, to the character. To create his headdress, make-up artist Tom Smith based the skull on a cow, and used a latex shrunken head. Puri was chosen as Spielberg and Lucas did not want to cast a European actor and apply dark make-up.
This Mola Ram Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a beating heart prop and helmet. Mola Ram is an interesting character from the Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom) saga. I like this one a lot and a lot of detail went into the design of this urban vinyl figure. This is a bit hard to find, so if you do find one, then get it, because it will be a hard one to find by Christmas.

"One of us is the real reason why we have a Mighty Mugg... and if you say it's the Monkey, I kill you!"
This Monkey Man Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a monkey prop. This one is so cute. Who can forget that little monkey from Raiders of the Lost Ark? A great addition for your collection and will likely sell out quickly when this wave hits the stores sometime in September of 2008. Everybody loves the little monkey, what else can be said? :-)

Mutt Williams Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 2

"I'm ready. Don't give those Mighty Muggs a thing!"
Mutt Williams (born Henry Jones III) (born ca. 1937 or 1938) is a character in the Indiana Jones franchise, portrayed by Shia LaBeouf. He is introduced in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as a motorcycle-riding greaser and becomes Indiana Jones's sidekick. He is the son of Marion Ravenwood, an old flame of Indiana Jones, and Indiana Jones is actually his father.
George Lucas is interested in producing a spin-off about Mutt and his own adventures, with Indiana in a supporting role.
This Mutt Williams Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a dueling sword prop. Ok, so Mutt wasn't exactly a great character for me in the final movie of the Indiana Jones saga "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", but nonetheless, his character was vital to the new story and I'm sure many fans will appreciate this urban vinyl figure. I'm not crazy about it and I'll pass on this one. This is not out yet and is expected to come out in September of 2008.

Dr. Henry Jones Mighty Mugg

"That's his name... Henry Jones JUNIOR Mighty Mugg. We named the dog Indiana!"
Professor Henry Walton Jones, Sr. is a fictional character in the Indiana Jones franchise. He is the estranged father of Indiana Jones, who is captured by Nazis while searching for the Holy Grail to act as bait for Indiana.
The character was portrayed by Sean Connery in the 1989 film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Alex Hyde-White cameoed as the younger Henry in the film's prologue (though his face was not seen, and Connery dubbed his voice). Lloyd Owen played Jones in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series. The character subsequently made appearances in novels and a comic book.
This Dr. Henry Jones Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a hat prop. This one is so cute and looks just like Sean Connery. I really enjoyed the character of Sean Connery and this was my favorite film in the saga next to Raiders of the Lost Arc. The detail is acceptional and you just have to have the father of world's most famous Archeologist, right? I will definitely be adding this one to my collection! :-)

Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 3
Major Arnold Toht Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 3

"You Mighty Muggs, you're all the same. Always overdressing for the wrong occasions."
Major Arnold Ernst Toht, portrayed by Ronald Lacey, is the sinister Gestapo agent who attempts to retrieve the medallion from Marion, but his hand is burned by it. The scarred inscription on his hand is used by the Nazis to pinpoint the Ark's location, but as his hand lacks the code on its other side, they end up digging in the wrong area. Toht's face is melted by the spirits in the Ark but in the comic book adaptation he is killed by Indiana during the truck chase with a in-and-out bullet on the head. In a sequel comic book, Indy is confronted by his vengeful sister Ilsa.
Toht was known as Belzig in the August 1979 draft of the script. Spielberg wanted Toht to be a cyborg, with a metal arm that could transform into a flamethrower and machine gun. The 1979 script gave him a light in place of a right eye. Lucas rejected these as too far-fetched. Lacey was cast as Toht as he reminded Spielberg of Peter Lorre. Klaus Kinski turned down the role as he hated the script. Lacey later cameoed in The Last Crusade as Heinrich Himmler, opposite Michael Sheard (who auditioned for Toht) as Adolf Hitler. A 3.75" figure of Toht was released in late 1982, and he was part of a metal miniature collection in 1984.
This Major Toht Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a hat prop. Ok, so this was my favorite villain because I hated this character so much! I wanted to burn his face with that firewood poker when he threatened Marion with it. (LOL!) He had such an evil grin that just made me sick -- and I credit the actor so much for this. He did a great job! This urban vinyl figure looks good, although by looking at his mouth and nose, it almost looks like a teddybear. :-) I will definitely add this to my collection when it arrives in November of 2008.
Irina Spalko Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 3

"Mighty Muggs, Dr. Jones, is a gift you have yet to receive. My sympathies."
Colonel Dr. Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) is the antagonist of the film. A KGB agent born in the Ukraine, she was believed by those in her village to be a witch as she performed psychic experiments on animals. An impressed Joseph Stalin inducted her into researching psychic warfare, awarding her with the Order of Lenin three times. She is skilled in fencing and hand-to-hand combat and is Indiana's main antagonist as she brings the crystal skull to Akator to utilize the power there for her country's militant purposes. Ironically, her desire for knowledge proved her undoing when the crystal skull entity grants her desire to know everything, overloading her mind and causing her to disintegrate as her scattered essence is teleported to another dimension.
Frank Marshall said Spalko continued the tradition of Indiana having a love-hate relationship "with every woman he ever comes in contact with". Blanchett had wanted to play a villain for a "couple of years" before being cast. Spalko was modeled on Marlene Dietrich, while her bob cut was George Lucas' idea and was inspired by Louise Brooks.
A 3 ¾" figure was released, as well as an Adventure Heroes figurine that depicts her duel with Mutt. Spalko is available in three Lego playsets.
This Irina Spalko Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a fighting sword prop. Ok, call me biased, but she is definitely going in my collection! Do you think it's because she's Russian? :-) While I didn't understand WHY her character was in the story, I thought Kate Blanchett did a wonderful job with her accent. I'm Russian myself, and even I thought she was authentic. A great urban vinyl figure that strongly resembles Kate. Comes out in November of 2008... be on the look out!
Tuxedo Indiana Jones Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 3

"Those aren't Mighty Muggs, sweetheart. They're giant vampire bats!"
This Tuxedo Indiana Jones Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with no prop. A handsome devilish Indiana Jones wearing a white tuxedo from the Temple of Doom. The same smirk on this urban vinyl figure as with all the others, with that flirtatious eye brow lift (is there really any other expression?) I like this one a lot. I can't wait until November for this to come out, as this will be added to my collection as well. :-) Nice detail and looks great! Expected to arrive in November of 2008.

Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 4 - Arrives 12/08
Young Indy Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 4

"That Mighty Mugg belongs in a Museum!"
Young Indy (played by River Phoenix) was introduced as a flashback sequence in the beginning of the film entitled, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Probably one of the most memorable and exciting sequences ever put together for a flashback sequence. We learn and discover how Indiana Jones literally becomes the man we've all come to love.
In the opening sequence of Young Indy, we see him traveling with a boy scout troop. On a desert excursion, Young Indy sneaks away from his boy scout troop, discovering a band of treasure hunters who have unearthed a valuable artifact: the Cross of Coronado. Convinced that the cross belongs in a museum, not in the hands of looters, Young Indy steals the artifact.
The treasure hunters pursue him on a dangerous chase through a circus train, in which Indy falls through the roof into a large pit of snakes -- which starts his paranoia of snakes in general. As the chase ensues, Young Indy finds himself into another dangerous predicament -- a lion cage face to face with the beast itself. This is where Young Indy takes his first crack at brandishing a whip in order to protect himself from being attacked, which later becomes his most famous trusty weapon of choice.
The chase eventually ends with Young Indy getting away, only to be met up once again at his home, where he tries to tell his father of the great adventure and show him the treasure he had so valiantly taken away from the looters. The bandits arrive at his home with the authorities, and Young Indy is forced to give back the Cross of Coronado. But before leaving, the leader of the pack gives Young Indy his Fedora hat in respect to Young Indy's passion of the chase... a hat that becomes the very trademark of Indiana Jones whom we all know and love.
This Young Indy Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. This is a great addition to the collection and I believe this will be sold out very quickly. I like the blood and scruffy look on his that shows determination for getting what he wants. This looks very good and will be a welcome addition to the family, that's for sure. This will be released in December 2008. Get it when you see it!
Satipo With Spiders Mighty Mugg
Part of the Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs Wave 4

"You throw me the Mighty Mugg... I throw you the whip!"
Satipo (Alfred Molina) is a guide that helps Indiana grab the fertility idol in the film's opening. He follows behind him in the temple's traps. Most noteably, there are two scenes that are where most will not forget Satipo. One scene is with Satipo informing Indy that he has a Tarantula crawling on his back, only to reveal that he himself has several spiders on him as well.
The other scene is when Indy and Satipo reach a pit trying to escape, Satipo makes it over with Indiana's whip and Indy is stuck on the other side. Satipo is then quoted as saying, "You throw me the Idol. I throw you the whip." Indy throws over the fertility idol to Satipo, which results in Satipo betraying Indy by stealing the Idol, dropping the whip, and making his escape. Satipo ends up being impaled by a spear in the wall trap, pinning him to the wall, while Indiana makes it out.
This Satipo With Spiders Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Probably one of the most memorable scenes from Raiders of the Lost Arc -- that scene still scares me today, as I am afraid of spiders! :-) I'm not so sure this will be a "high in demand" mighty mugg, but we will add it to our collection. The detail is not so great -- and where are the spiders? Perhaps it will look different and better when it comes out in December 2008.
Fertility Idol Mighty Muggs
Part of the Indiana Jones Limited Edition Lineup

The Chachapoyan Fertility Idol was a solid gold statue, six inches tall, representing the Chachapoyan goddess of fertility. The idol was hidden by the tribe's priests in a temple deep within the jungles of Peru. Braving the temple's deadly traps to stare into the idol's eyes became a rite of passage for young Chachapoyan warriors.
In 1935, a Princeton archaeologist named Forrestal disappeared in the jungle attempting to recover the idol. The following year, Indiana Jones, on commission from the National Museum and working from Forrestal's notes, managed to locate the temple and extract the statue, only to have it immediately stolen by rogue archaeologist René Belloq. Belloq promptly unloaded the artifact in Marrakesh, where Jones later re-appropriated it from the shop of antiquities dealer Saad Hassim.
The National Museum celebrated the idol's arrival with a lavish banquet at the Diamond's Eye nightclub in New York City. Among the guests was a band of angry Hovitos led by Xomec, alleged descendant of the Chachapoyans. Xomec swiped the idol from curator Marcus Brody and fled to the jungles of Brazil. Jones gave chase, and after defeating Xomec and his Nazi co-conspirator Ilsa Toht, once again reclaimed the idol for the museum.
This Fertility Idol Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a BIG GRIN. Ok, so you'd have to be crazy NOT to buy this one. This is what sets the very standard of Indiana Jones and every adventure thereafter. Probably the greatest treasure hunting scene ever shot on film from Raiders of the lost Arc. :-) It looks pretty good and the photos do not do this mighty mugg any justice. It is actually metallic paint and does have a shimmer finish -- so well worth it's weight in gold! :-) Expect to pay more than $10, as this is a limited edition.
