Ever since Last Crusade, George Lucas has been trying to get a story that he, Steven and Harrison are all happy with. For years scripts were rejected for one reason or another with Harrison saying that if the film was not made by 2008 they could forget it. After filming Munich, Spielberg worked on the script with screenwriter David Koepp and a finished screenplay was finally ready on 29th December 2006 with a release date for 22nd May 2008. Filming began on 18th June 2007 in Deming, New Mexico. So far the casting  has been stellar including Ray Winstone , Cate Blachett, John Hurt and newcomer Shia LaBeouf who is currently starring in Transformers. It is just under a year until Indy 4 is released, so while you are waiting overdose on everything Henry Jones Jr from merchandise to trailers. Enjoy!!!

INDY 4 CAST

Karen Allen - Marion Ravenwood

Born in 1951, Karen Allen didn't discover her passion for acting until she'd spent years studying design, writing, traveling in South America, and even living briefly in Jamaica. She was in her 20's by then, and spent 5 years with an acting troupe in Washington D.C. before heading for training in New York with acting guru Lee Strasberg. Her first major screen role was as far from serious drama as an actress could get playing the sweetheart of the raucous Delta fraternity in the 1978 cult classic Animal House. But the raspy-voiced actress steadily built her resume, landing roles in The Wanderers, Cruisin', and A Small Circle of Friends before capturing hearts in "Raiders". The hype that followed would have guaranteed Allen her pick of Hollywood parts; she preferred instead to showcase her talents on stage, choosing roles as diverse as a rape victim in "Extremities," and Helen Keller in "The Monday after the Miracle," where she was able to draw upon a short-lived blindness she experienced in the 1970s that was caused by a viral infection. Films like Shoot the Moon (1982), Starman (1984) and Scrooged (1988) kept her in the public eye, but Allen kept returning to the stage, appearing as Rosalind in "As You Like It," Annie Sullivan in "The Miracle Worker" and as Laura in the Broadway revival of "The Glass Menagerie".By the early 1990s Allen had further reduced her film outings to concentrate on motherhood. She preferred to remain in her home in Massachusetts, where she opened a thriving yoga business and taught knitting. As her son grew she slowly returned to acting and in 1995 even starred in the interactive adventure game "Ripper." She has since appeared in many independent films including The Basket, on television in "My Horrible Year" as well as the box office hits The Perfect Storm and In the Bedroom.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992 and, in a little over a year, had won both critical and popular acclaim. On graduating from NIDA, she joined the Sydney Theatre Company's production of Caryl Churchill's "Top Girls", then played Felice Bauer, the bride, in Tim Daly's "Kafka Dances", winning the 1993 Newcomer Award from the Sydney Theatre Critics Circle for her performance. From there, Blanchett moved to the role of Carol in David Mamet's searing polemic "Oleanna", also for the Sydney Theatre Company, and won the Rosemont Best Actress Award, her second award that year. She then co-starred in the ABC Television's prime time drama "Heartland" (1994) (mini), again winning critical acclaim. In 1995, she was nominated for Best Female Performance for her role as Ophelia in the Belvoir Street Theatre Company's production of "Hamlet". Other theatre credits include Helen in the Sydney Theatre Company's "Sweet Phoebe", Miranda in "The Tempest" and Rose in "The Blind Giant is Dancing", both for the Belvoir Street Theatre Company. In other television roles, Blanchett starred as Bianca in ABC's "Bordertown" (1995) (mini), as Janie Morris in "G.P." (1989) and in ABC's popular series Police Rescue (1994). She made her feature film debut in Paradise Road (1997), and, in 1998, she played the title character in Elizabeth (1998), winning numerous awards for her performance, including the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama. Cate was also nominated for an Academy Award for the role but lost out to Gwyneth Paltrow. 2001 was a particularly busy year, with starring roles in Bandits (2001), The Shipping News (2001), Charlotte Gray (2001) and playing Elf Queen Galadriel in the "Lord Of The Rings" trilogy. Shia Saide LaBeouf was born June 11, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, to Jeffrey LaBeouf and Shayna Saide, and is an only child. His parents are divorced, and he lives with his mom in Los Angeles. He searched in the yellow pages, called one up, and did a stand-up routine in front of him. They liked him and signed him, and then he started auditioning. He's well known for playing Louis Stevens in the popular Disney Channel series "Even Stevens" (2000) and won a Daytime Emmy for his performance. He has recently been in some high profile movies including "I,Robot", "Charlies Angels:Full Throttle", "Constantine" and "Disturbia". John Hurt - Abner Ravenwood?

John Hurt was born in Derbyshire, England on 22 January 1940.

John Hurt says of his school days at Lincoln School: "My parents didn't allow me to play with boys they considered to be common - they were the only ones I really liked!"

Hurt was an art student at St Martin's School before winning a scholarship to RADA.

Although John Hurt followed many of his contemporaries into the theatre appearing in plays like Wesker's Chips with Everything and Osborne's Inadmissable Evidence, it was in television that he really made his name.

John Hurt had appeared in films like 'A Man For All Seasons' (1966) and as Timothy Evans in '10 Rillington Place' (1970), but became famous with his television performance in the same year as Quentin Crisp in 'The Naked Civil Servant'.
He was stunning as Crisp and also in his role as Caligula in the long-running television series of 'I Claudius' (1976).
Notable screen appearances include Scandal and 1994, but his performances that won BAFTA awards and Oscar Nominations - 'Midnight Express' and 'The Elephant Man' - were stunning. He was also nominated for a BAFTA for his role in 'Alien'. Hurt keeps busy with a few projects a year and tends to mix the mainstream with the fringe. Amongst his recent roles of note was his television appearances as Tory maverick, Alan Clark.
Hurt is apparently a chain-smoker and a bit of a drinker. When he married his third wife he intended going on the wagon and drank mineral water at the wedding, but shortly afterwards was given a drink driving ban after crashing his car.
He was honoured in 2004 with the CBE for services to drama.
Recent credits have included 'Captain Correlli's Mandolin' and 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', 'V For Vendetta', 'The Proposition' , 'Shooting Dogs' and 'Hellboy'.

History of Indiana Jones Part 1

Indiana Jones was born Henry Walden Jones Jr. to Scottish-born professor of medieval literature Dr. Henry Jones and his wife Anna on July 1, 1899, in Princeton, New Jersey. "Junior" accompanied his father on his travels throughout the world, where he learned to speak, read, and write 27 languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Swedish, Greek, Arabic, Turkish, Vietnamese, Swahili, Latin and Chinese, as well as some Hindi. By age 9, young Henry had adopted the name of his beloved dog Indiana for himself, though his father would continue to refer to him as "Junior" for throughout his adult life.

In 1912, Indy lived in Utah with his father. He kept busy as a member of the Boy Scouts, having achieved the rank of "Life Scout." It was here, while attempting to secure the Cross of Coronado from thieves, that Indy learned to use the bullwhip and received his trademark fedora. This adventure also led to his aversion to snakes.

His father wanted Indiana to go to Princeton University. To escape this, he ran away from home by train. He ended up in Mexico and was kidnapped by Mexican revolutionaries. He joined this army of revolutionaries, playing a part in the Mexican Revolution in 1916, under Pancho Villa. It is here that he also met his friend Remy, a Belgian. With Remy, he left Mexico and eventually made his way to Africa at the beginning of World War I. (Source:Wikipedia)

History of Indiana Jones Part 2

After the war, Jones returned to the United States, where he studied archaeology at the University of Chicago under Professor Abner Ravenwood. At the same time, he became romantically involved with the professor's daughter Marion. Dr. Jones abruptly left the Ravenwoods in 1926 and did not contact them for 10 years. He divided his time between teaching and archaeological expeditions, including a journey to China and India in 1935 where he faced the gangster Lao Che and the followers of the cult of Kali. In 1936, he was contacted by the United States government to retrieve the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis. In 1938, Indy rescued his father from the Nazis and became embroiled in the search for the Holy Grail.

When last seen in 1993, Jones was living in New York City with his daughter and her family. Sporting an eyepatch and cane, he stopped anyone within earshot to regale them with tales of his exploits as a young man. (Source:Wikipedia)

New Text / Write module

Koepp is under strict orders not to blow Indiana Jones' cover. But as someone who was inspired to become a screenwriter by Raiders of the Lost Ark, writing Episode 4 definitely ranks as a sweet gig.
Although screenwriter David Koepp jokes that the Dreamworks secret police will track him down if he reveals anything about the upcoming sequel Indiana Jones 4, he was able during a recent interview with FilmStew to drop a few pebble-sized hints.
"I spent about a year on it, first doing drafts with Steven and then doing drafts with Steven and George," he explains. "It was a lot of fun. The first thing is that you realize this is a beloved character, probably one of the most in film history, and a lot of people are going to be angry no matter what I do."
"I'm going to get my *ss handed to me on some level, even by my fellow filmmakers or the audience," Koepp continues. "So you just accept all that and go and do the best thing you can with as much love as you can. I worked with Steven a number of times but never with both of them [Spielberg, Lucas]. They're big guys with big opinions and it's definitely a challenge, but a challenge worth stepping up to."
Koepp agrees that it would be crazy not to take into account star Harrison Ford's real age for this next installment. In fact, he suggests that if it were not in the script, Ford would likely insist on references to this being added. Koepp himself was 18-years-old when Raiders of the Lost Ark first hit theaters back in 1981 and, ironically enough, says that's the movie that made him want to become a screenwriter.
"This one was hard, because there's the wait of expectation which I felt also on Spider-Man," Koepp reveals. "At the time, that had been a comic for 35 years, so there's a big audience out there for it and it's beloved."
"People have a lot of preconceptions about what it ought to be and that's the same kind of pressure you feel with Indiana Jones," he continues. "It's hard to write when you feel the audience looking over your shoulder, but you just try and put it out of your mind."
As much as he is a fan of Indy lore, Koepp says it's essential to discard that point of view when tapping out further adventures. "You can't write a fan script," he insists. "You have to pretend that this movie exists without the other one."
