The Greatest Spectacle in Racing

The 91st running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing was Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Andretti-Green Racing driver Dario Franchitti won the rain-shortened event and earned the right to have his face placed on the Borg-Warner Trophy.

May 6: Opening Day
Let the month of May begin!
May 12: Pole Day
The first 11 cars are set for the field of 33.
May 13: 2nd Day Qualifying
11 more spots are set.
May 19: 3rd Day Qualifying
Only 10 of the remaining 11 slots are filled, leaving more than just bumping to Sunday.
May 20: Bump Day
There was limited drama on Bump Day 2007, but there was some drama - check out the pics.
May 27: Race Day
Rain delayed the start, forced a delay in the middle, and ultimately washed out the chances of completing the full 500 miles.
