An Introduction To Indian Premier League
This lens is about the newly launched Indian Premier League. A venture of Board of Control of Cricket in India the tournment will feature top teams from various Indian Cities. Players from around the country and the world will be representing the cities. The 8 teams representing 8 cities will play against each other over the course of two months Apr-May. The matches will be played in the short format Twenty20.

- The go to site for all Mumbai Indian fans. This team along with the Royal Challengers seems to be full of the senior citizens of the cricketing fraternity. But don't write them off. They have tons of experience and steely resolve. Sanath Jayasuriya, Shaun Pollock, Sachin Tendulkar, Robin Uthappa, Bhajji are just few names in the great Indian line up. With Senior brother Ambani as owner money is not a problem I guess :-)

- The Charging bulls are sure to make an impact in the IPL tournament. They have super cool players Symmo, Gilly, Afridi and ever dependable and very, very special Laxman in the team.
- Bangalore Royal Challengers
- Royal Challengers of Bangalore, Vijay Mallaya's team has to live up to the reputation of its owner with some flamboyant display!
- Kings XI
- Yuvaraj, Preity Zinta, Brett Lee and Irfan Pathan. What a combination guys. I love'em all. I can live with Ness I guess.
- Delhi Daredevils
- Daredevils - the right name for Sehwag, Gambhir and Co. We can expect some great fireworks from this team.
- Rajasthan Royals
- The Minnows of the tourament. But don't underestimate Wiley Warne and his band of merry men. Warne is an inspirational leader and those who write of this team do so at their own peril.
- Kolkata Knight Riders
- A fan blog of the Kolkata Knight Riders. My fav team. Ahem, it's nothing to do with cricket actually. They are my favorites because of Shah Rukh Khan(love him, love him, love him.) Now, that my hero worship is out of the way.
I expect some great things from this team with Saurav, Ponting, Ishant Sharma and rest of the gang and John Buchanan lending is coaching skills you can expect some world-class play from this dream combo. - Chennai Super Kings
- Chennai Superkings - Yes, the super cool, super dashing, super captain - Dhoni will be leading the Super Kings - Hussey, Hayden, Stephen Fleming, Muralitharan and the rest of the gang. Don't be surprised if this team wins the tournament. After all Dhoni is incharge.
Indian Premier League Cricket Series
The Indian Premier League cricket seris is the latest offering of the Board of Control for Cricket In India. Eight teams representing the top cities in India will play against each other in a series of 59 matches to win the championships.The matches will be played in April and May and feature the top 80 ICC ranked cricketers from around the world. BCCI has auctioned off the top 8 teams to the highest bidders.
Big name industrialists, businesshouses, moviestars and others have bought out the city-based teams for millions of dollars making the Indian Cricket Board richer. according to BCCI the similar league is being for the women's cricket too.
The owners of teams now have to buy players for their respective teams and over 80 players have been offered contracts by the BCCI to play in the series. These players will be bought by the higest bidders and will then play as part of their city teams.
The twenty20 format of cricket has already caught the fancy of Indian fans with India having won the inaugural Twenty20 world championship in 2007.
Cricket is big business in India with billions of dollars being made in TV and broadcasting rights, advertisements, endorsements by players, sponsorships and much more.
The amount of money in cricket in India is mind boggling. IPL is set to capitalise in on this fervour and devotion of the Indian fans for thiw game.
