India Premier League

The India Premier League Cricket a brainchild was launched by the BCCI as a response to the ICL launched by ZEE TV.

India Premier League will have 59 matches with the eight city based teams playing against each in home and away matches. There will be semi finals and finals at the end of the tournament to decide the winners.

The teams that top the tables will play in the semis and winner of the tournament will take around $2 million dollars in prize money.

Much money has already been made by the players during the IPL auction held on Feb 20. Players were snapped up by the eight franchisees for huge amounts unheard of before in the history of cricket.

For playing a little over month and half of cricket the players will be pocketing money that most don't earn even after a year of playing cricket.
