Indie Rock Love Songs For Your Wedding

Hoppipolla is Icelandic for "jumping into puddles" and is a song by post-rock band Sigur Ros from their 2005 album Takk.... The lyrics are mainly in Icelandic mixed in with a made-up "language" the band calls Vonlenska ("Hopelandic"). The song has a majestic quality that gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it.

Indie musical act The Bird And The Bee recently released the first volume of their Interpreting the Masters series and Volume 1 is a tribute to 80s pop duo Daryl Hall and John Oates. I grew up in the eighties and have always thought of Hall & Oates' One on One as a beautiful love song so it was a pleasure to hear Bird & the Bee's Inara George's take on it. The dreamier, softer arrangement coupled with her enchanting vocals makes for a delightful listening experience. Listen below.

The lyrics about "having a bad week but not having a care in the world because, what the heck, I'm in love" still rings as true and as resonantly as they did back in the 80s.

I absolutely can't make a playlist without indie rock poster boy Ben Lee in it and in this song (from the album Ripe, spotlighted below), aptly enough he makes a plea for everlasting love with an infectious, almost-anthemic pop song that radiates with joy, warmth, and positivity. Isn't that how all wedding music should be?
