Individual Soccer Drills - Getting Started

soccer u dvds Anyone who wants to improve their soccer game will want to find the best individual soccer drills available. What most people don't realize is just how many individual skills there are to be learned in soccer in order to become a complete player. You could realistically say there are at least 100 unique skills that can be learned and mastered separately. Now of course, some soccer skills are going to be more important than others in your development, but it is ideal to have access to all of the various soccer skills and the individual soccer drills that go along with each.

It should be understood however the difference between learning fundamental skills and doing team drills. Many coaches emphasize team drills that while keeping their team busy are potentially grooving in bad habits that were created by not learning proper fundamentals. I know that in my own case, I never learned to keep my toe down while kicking, and every drill I did with this poor technique just drilled in this bad habit more and more.

Best Sources for Individual Soccer Drills

There are lots of different sources for individual soccer drills, both in books and online, and from what I've researched, I was pretty surprised to find out that most of what I found was stuff that I wouldn't be able to work with very easily. The program I found that really stuck out was SoccerU.com. I was instantly impressed by the philosophy along with the detail and quality of the video instruction. I was happy to find out that it was priced right around the same as some of the other programs that weren't even in live video format.

The Best Way to Learn Soccer

I found some competing video programs that had individual soccer drills, but they were presented mostly as a bunch of x's and o's on a grid. There are other video programs that just didn't have an emphasis on quality, especially for what they were charging.

SoccerU goes over each skill separately, and breaks it down into the simplest specific components with real people demonstrating. This is the way I like to learn, especially something as visual as soccer. This is a tremendous DVD series, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I sincerely wish that I had it in Junior High School when I was kicking the ball with my toe, and my coach had way too much on his plate to work with me on it. Which brings me to another point which is that this is the perfect thing for parents who want to help their kids improve their soccer skills.
