Indoor Tree Climbing For Cats

Outdoor cats are naturally active. They hunt food and find things to investigate. They like to climb up high for a better vantage point and for their own protection from predators. When we brought cats inside to keep as pets, we took away some of that natural activity. The results are often weight gain and behavior problems. One way to avoid these problems is with an indoor cat tree.

Cat trees come in all shapes, sizes, and materials, but one thing they have in common is that they provide some natural activity for your cat. They give your cat a chance to climb and jump. They often have sisal rope around part of the tree for your cat to enjoy scratching. Some of them have attached houses or cubbies to hide in.

Which cat tree should you buy for your cat? Since we took the cat out of nature, perhaps we should bring a touch of nature inside for the cat. Pet Tree House custom builds cat trees that look like trees out of real trees and silk leaves. The rustling leaves on this large cat tree house will invite your cat to climb and survey his kingdom from above. Four carpeted platforms provide plenty of places for lounging, and the house at the bottom gives your cat a private place to hide or sleep. 84" high, the cat tree includes a replaceable toy and an engravable medallion. Not only will your cat have an exciting tree to call his own, you'll have a striking house plant that doesn't need watering.

Cat Tree With Leaves

A tree house for your cat

Real Cat TreeCat trees benefit your cat by providing stimulation for mental and physical health. An overweight cat is at risk of developing diabetes, just like humans. And a bored cat is sure to develop behavioral problems. A cat tree gives your cat things to do and encourages him to be active.

A cat tree doesn't have to reach the ceiling to provide hours of fun for your cat. Pet Tree House also builds the cat tree house in a sapling size. Same real tree wood, same silk flowers, but at a height of 48 inches, the Sapling cat tree house has one carpeted platform, one cradle, and one toy. The house at the base bears a medallion engravable with your cat's name.

Since these cat trees are made of real tree branches, they will curve and bend slightly according to the humidity level in your home. Handmade in the U.S.A. by talented artisans, these trees arrive fully assembled and bolted to the bottom of the crate for safe shipping.

All-Natural Cat Tree

A cat tower made from real tree

All-Natural Cat TreeCats are as sensitive to synthetic chemicals as people are. If you prefer all-natural products for your cat and in your home, this eco-friendly cedar cat tree is for you. It's made from a real eastern red cedar tree with the bark removed. All solid wood, with no particle board, carpeting, adhesives, or varnishes, it's biodegradable and 100% natural.

After debarking, the cedar tree is sanded by hand to a silky smooth finish. The height of 5'4" allows plenty of room for three solid wood perches, and it's topped by a wicker basket that your cat will love to curl up in. The natural contours and colors of this cat tree lend a zen-like peace to your home.

One of a cat's natural instincts is scratching. It helps them keep their claws healthy. The red cedar of this cat tree is perfect for scratching. It has just enough give to let your cat sink in his claws, and it won't splinter. Your cat will love climbing and scratching this all-natural cat tree, and you will love the aromatic scent of the red cedar.

Rustic Cat Tree

Unique cat tree built just for your cat

Rustic Cat TreeYour cat has plenty of options with this Stairway to Heaven rustic cat tree. Four levels let him choose how high he wants to climb, and their stair-step arrangement makes it easy for him to get from one level to the next. He can survey his kingdom from one of the platforms or hide inside the dome at the base for sleep or play.

Each of these rustic cat trees is custom built to your specifications using real tree branches, so you and your cat will enjoy a truly unique piece. The placement of the four platforms will depend on the configuration of the branches, but every tree will be approximately 60 inches high and will have the four platforms you specify. Choose from four flat platforms, four cradles, or three cradles with one flat platform. You can also choose to have sisal rope wrapped on one leg, two legs, or none.

The Stairway to Heaven rustic cat tree is a great way to bring the simple, natural look of the outdoors into your home, while providing soft and secure lounging areas for your cat. Your cat will love scratching the real wood branches and snoozing on his lofty perch.

Rustic Cat Perch

Table topper window perch

Rustic Cat PerchCats never stop wanting to be up high, but as they get older they may have difficulty climbing. For their comfort and safety, a lower cat perch is the answer. The Table Topper cat tree is just 30 inches high, but still provides your cat a sense of being the wild climber.

Lightweight and compact, the Table Topper can be moved around in your home. It can be used on the floor or easily moved to a table. Satisfy your cat's fascination with the outdoors by placing this perch on a sturdy table in front of the window; the carpeted base protects the furniture, and your cat will spend hours happily gazing at the outdoor activity.

Like the taller rustic cat trees, this cat perch is individually hand-crafted from real tree branches, so each piece is unique. All have two cradles at varied levels, but their configuation depends on the branches. Choose from six colors, and order sisal rope on one leg, two legs, or none.

My cat Sammy likes to sit on the shelf over my computer and bat me with his tail while I work. We have several cat trees in the basement and one leads up to the kitchen so they can go in and out. These designs are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing them!

Oh, my teki is a black stray cat I got from the street 8 years ago. When he was young, he loved to jump up on my desk, where I did my work, and then onto the computer screen, and then up in my bunk bed! and maybe onto the furniture around... Now he is happy when he reaches the top of the fridge ! Now that I have read your lens, I am going to build him a nice climber. thanks for the information!

Gary like the kitchen counter--he is not allowed there but he likes to push the envelope anyway. He has a small climber, which we purchased when he was just a kitten. He is too big for it now, but likes to squeeze atop it none-the-less. I love these natural ones with wood and leaves--never thought of that before. We are going to try to make on and see if our big boy will leave the kitten tower and counter and opt for the "tree" house.

Our cats (brothers from the same litter last May) are 'shop cats'. They love to come charging in their cat door and race for the big revolving office chair - leap on it - spinning round & round and then leaping onto the work bench - they can do this over & over. Last week I was brought some lumber ends from the local mill and said that I thought I could make some nice platforms and scratching posts for the cats - found your site and now have some super ideas to go with - thanks

Cats are so funny! Mine are brothers, too. They have completely different personalities, but they'd be lost without each other.

We put 2 cat trees on top of each other to make one that is about 10 feet tall. They really seem to like it. Well you know how kitties like to be up high. Angel blessed.
