Inexpensive Maternity Clothes

In your mothers day, choices in maternity clothes were very limited. Olden style maternity pants were made in such a manner that the part where the band met the denim was especially irritating. Pants with no flex can cause an extreme amount of discomfort and just try bending over in them. Belly bands are a topic all their own. Pregnant women are supposed to get plenty of exercise and allow for good blood flow so it is of the utmost importance that they wear good fitting clothes. Most women tend to grow a lot in the last trimester. There is a good chance that you may end up having to buy new maternity clothes more than once during your pregnancy unless you shop carefully. So how do we know what to look for in a great maternity outfit? Fortunately I have plenty of girls who seem to be getting pregnant left and right, They have let me know under no uncertain terms that the styles I used to wear are not the most comfortable. This is especially true for pants so I had them help me out here and have come up with a few guidelines for comfort.

1. Under belly bands and pants are supposedly way more comfortable.
2. There are many more fabrics to choose from. Might as well get something that moves with you
3. We now have stretch denim. I think we are all thankful for this.
4. You don't have to be pressed and starched to look good.
5. Your legs may swell so try to go a little loose.

These are all great suggestions and we will keep them in mind as we search for the best inexpensive maternity pants. I know everyone doesn't like under belly bands so we will try to find some other styles while remaining within a reasonable price range.

Pregnant moms want to look good. After all, you always seem to be the center of attention. This is completely natural, people love babies and mothers to be are no exception. Everyone in the room is going to notice you so you want to look your best. Sometimes a simple cotton top can look really cute on a pregnant woman. But be careful, some of them can ride up as you grow. There are many different varieties of tops to choose from that you can get fairly inexpensively. Let's go over a few designs.

Here is an example of a maternity top that I would stay away from. Although you may love tie dye and sometimes it is cute, the bold pattern on this top just isn't very flattering to a baby belly. Notice how it stretches around her body and just seems a bit too snug. There are other ways to make a bold statement which look much better on a mommy to be.

Both of these tops look as though they would be cute. They also look to be made from similar fabric. However, once you put them on they each take on a life of their own. The top that looks plain and boring on the rack is actually very cute and the top that looks fun and cute can end up being a nightmare that you wish you never spent money on. Unfortunately, there are way too many of the second type when looking in a lower price range. Spend some time to look through many different outfits before you buy so you don't end up regretting it.

This maternity top is cute, it's flattering, and it fits in all the right places. If you need something just a little dressier and want to stay under budget then this is an excellent choice. Not only is it flattering but it is a nursing top as well making it a real steal at under 20 dollars. It goes great with jeans as shown in this image but it would also look great with a skirt, slacks, leggings and short pants.

If you love to show off your feminine side take a look at this beautiful maternity tunic. At the time of this writing it is selling for an amazing price of under 15 dollars. I don't know how long this sale will last but as for now it is a bargain not to be overlooked. Take a look at the detail in the bodice and the collar. It was made with style and class in mind. There is plenty of room to grow but it doesn't look shabby because the tummy section blends perfectly with the all over style. This comfortably styled top would go great with your diamonds or pearls.

I have just found a terrific maternity dress that is very formal and it can double as a casual. It not exactly cheap but for as many different ways you can wear this dress I think it is a very inexpensive steal at under a hundred dollars. Cozy up in this fantastic jersey knit maternity top complete with a matching scarf. It's winter so look the part well. Layers are great for winter and they can really spice up your wardrobe. Here is one winter set that is both warm and versatile. The scarf is removable for indoor wear. An excellent choice for out and about.

All of these tops (with the exception of number two) look great and fit nice. One thing to consider is not only will you be comfortable, but will your baby be comfy as well. They can also feel things touching your belly. If they feel uncomfortable, trust me they will find a better spot to sit. Often that means they crawl up under your rib cage making you more uncomfortable than the clothes themselves. Remember, snugging in your pregnant belly won't make you look any smaller, in fact it will usually make you look bigger. If you don't believe me have another look at the images above. When buying inexpensive maternity clothes, especially online , try to find clothes that are being worn by a "Pregnant" model so you can see just what they will look like. Everything looks different on the rack and maternity clothes are no exception.

Another great way to get inexpensive maternity clothes is to find and recycle them. Ask your sister, aunt, cousin, friend, your church and anyone else you know if they have any laying around. You would be surprised at how many people hang on to stuff even if there is a very slim chance they will ever use it again. Maternity clothes are no exception. If you can find a few good pieces from someone else, you will have more in your budget for the really terrific ones.

You don't necessarily have to purchase all of your maternity clothes off the rack. If you have a knack for creation, you can try your hand at sewing. There are lots of nice sewing patterns available for maternity tops, dresses and jumpers that are pretty easy to make. If you want to save money and have plenty of time on your hands, this is an excellent way to get a closet full of inexpensive maternity clothes. Patterns can be purchased at your local fabric store as well as larger sewing and craft superstores. You can also shop from your sofa and get maternity sewing patterns right online. Lots of new patterns come out every season, but I think you might even be surprised at just how cute some of the older patterns can be.
