Children, The Cross We Bear

We love our children dearly, love them with every fiber of our being and there is basically almost nothing on earth we will deny them. We want to have the absolute best for them and give them everything there is to give within our ability and financial means. We take care of them when they are little and tend to each and every need and whim of them.

Our reward as parents when or children are little is a smile, little arms around the neck and a sloppy wet kiss. Other times it is outstretched arms, which is basically a request to be picked up and to be cuddled. The fact that we know we are their hero although this sometimes change at a later stage in their life.

The point I am trying to convey is that when children are healthy, happy and well it is such a blessing and an indescribable joy. Unfortunately this is not a Utopia and kids do get sick. One of those sicknesses is Infant Constipation. Let us take a look at Infant Constipation, the causes, symptoms and the remedies.

Infant Constipation - What Does It Mean?

In Layman's Terms

You may wonder what is constipation in an infant, a child, and an adult. This condition can be described as needing to pass stool and not being able to do so. It can feel very painful for people of any age, and has been known to be a source of severe stress. It may even be compared with the pain of trying to give birth.

This condition can also mean not having bowel movements or passing stool very often. The healthy number of times a person should go, within a certain amount of time, varies and can depend on a person's age. Those who are younger should have bowel movements considerably more often than those who are older. It is also defined as digesting food that is moving slowly through the colon or the intestines.

Other common medicines to suspect include antacids and some types of pain relievers, like those that contain codeine. If you regularly fight the urge to have a bowel movement, you may become insensitive to feeling the need.

Women may have more trouble with constipation due to hormones. Her periods can cause temporary problems, as can the higher levels of progesterone and estrogen during pregnancy. This condition could be a symptom of diseases like certain kinds of cancers and diabetes. Stress has been known to cause constipation and constipation causes stress.
