Ready to Make an Info Product and Start Selling It?

Creating your own info product can be the beginning of a vast empire of profits for you to enjoy as a work at home entrepreneur for many years to come. Don't let the idea of making your own product overwhelm you - it isn't as hard as you think.

There are basically 5 steps to creating your own info product and you can use a variety of free or paid tools to help you get the job done faster. The 5 steps, in a nutshell, are as follows:

1.) Find a niche.
2.) Think of a solution for your niche.
3.) Create your info product.
4.) Compile it, upload it, and get your payment processor ready.
5.) Promote your product!

So let's take a look at what the info product creation process is all about%u2026

Step 1 - Find a Niche

Finding a niche means you have to discover what topic you're passionate about and would like to work in for the long-haul, but it also means being able to objectively determine if your niche is one that spends money.

For example - golfers are a niche group. They spend money (golf is expensive). But moms who like bargains are also a niche group - and they'll spend money learning how to save more money!

Once you find a niche, you can narrow it down to a sub-niche. While golfers in general is a broad niche, women or senior golfers are sub-niche groups. The more targeted your niche demographic, the more you'll be able to tailor your product strictly for their needs (which results in a very responsive list of buyers).

Step 2 - Think of a Solution for Your Niche

Each niche has needs. That should be your mantra during the info product creation process. Even if the niche is happy and rich - they have needs. Maybe they want to know how to best invest their money, for example. Not all niche needs are depressing.

So what can your solution be? Here are some examples of niche solutions:

3 Day Acne Cure (Health/Beauty)
Lose Weight from a Pregnancy (Diet/Parenting)
Shoot Under 80 in 14 Days (Golf)
Make Money as a Forex Day Trader (Wealth)

Think of what your niche needs as well as what information they'd be willing to pay for. If it helps, go to Amazon or Barnes and Noble and see what magazines and books are already on the market to give you ideas. Use keyword tools as well, to see how consumers are searching for information in your core group of prospects.

"I have used this book in my marketing class and in the field. We do consulting as part of course work at school and every one I know cites this book. I read this book and then made sure to take John's class. It is such an easy read that makes you wonder "Why I didn't I think of this?". I have applied the marketing knowledge in this book at my own business, school, and during consultation. The great thing about this book is that the recommendations are current and apply to the now; not to the pre-computer generation. I cannot recommend this book enough to any marketing student or entrepreneur."

Step 3 - Create Your Info Product

First start with an outline for your info product. Having an outline just helps you stay focused on what your audience needs to know. Take them through the solution in a step-by-step or logical manner.

It doesn't have to be a text product like an eBook. It can be an outline for an audio script or a video production you're creating, too! For a video, you might want to create a storyboard that shows a visual of what each shot will be about.

If you're making an eBook, then you can use something like Microsoft Word to create it, and then use Adobe to convert it into a PDF file. You can use Camtasia for a video product and Web Audio Plus for an audio info product.

Step 4 - Compile It, Upload It, and Get Your Payment Processor Ready

Once you convert your info product into the type of file you want it to be in, you'll need to zip it up and upload it onto your server so that your customer can download it. Make sure you put it in a file where it's not easy for savvy Internet thieves to find and steal.

After uploading to your server, use a program like Download Guard to safeguard your product and deliver it to your customers for you on autopilot. This will give your customers a window of opportunity to download the product so that the download link can't be shared all over the web.

Next, connect it to your payment processor. Will you be selling on ClickBank, PayDotCom, direct through PayPal or using an independent program to accept money for sales and pay your affiliates? You'll need a simple minisite web presence to put your sales copy on to convince buyers to purchase.

Compile Your Products Using Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 [OLD VERSION]

"I've been using Adobe Acrobat for many years - basically couldn't live without it since I deliver 99% of my work to clients in PDF format. Version 5 has been great - stable, fast, does the job. Every time a new version is released I try it out. Version 6 was horrid and a crash-fest. Version 7 was a bit better, but slow and bloated. Version 8 was OK, but did not see a compelling reason to change from v5. Version 9 is the first time I've been willing to shell out more bucks. After a using it for about a month, I'm very happy I did.

One of my main uses for Adobe is creating PDF forms. Version 9 is the first time that you can set up a form that can be saved to disk by a user, provided he/she is using version 8 or above of the reader. Finally!! Granted, this feature should have been implemented years ago, but appreciate that it is finally here. The form wizard actually works in this version - saves lots of time in setup.

Creating PDFs is speedy and works well from every application I've used (WordPerfect, Word, Excel, several others). I always use the Distiller to create a PDF - print to disk as a PS file, then run it through the Distiller. Takes one extra step (versus using the create PDF button that is enabled in some apps) but it works 100% of the time, and allows you to tweak how the PDF is created."

Step 5 - Promote Your Product!

Once you're all set up and have tested your system to make sure the payment processor works and customers receive their download information in a timely manner, you'll want to begin promoting your product.

You need a two-pronged approach - promote your product and promote the affiliate program too! If you had to secure each individual sale, it would take you longer to achieve your financial goals than if you brought dozens of savvy affiliates onboard to help generate massive amounts of website traffic for you.

Use tactics like article marketing, forum marketing, press releases, social networking, and pay per click marketing to get targeted prospects on your site to see your offer. Once the ball is rolling with your first info product, branch out and build another!
