About InfoPath 2010 with SharePoint 2010
InfoPath 2010 offers tighter integration with SharePoint 2010 than InfoPath 2007 did with SharePoint 2007.
InfoPath form templates are published to SharePoint 2010 as SharePoint List form templates, to SharePoint Form Libraries, as Site Content Types, as Document Information Panel templates, or as workflow form templates.
So you can use InfoPath forms as one of 4 types of forms with SharePoint 2010:
- SharePoint List forms
- SharePoint Library forms
- Workflow forms
- Document Information Panels
Of the 4 types of forms, Document Information Panels are the only types of forms that are not actually displayed in SharePoint 2010 itself, but rather in an Office 2010 application that supports Document Information Panels.
The goal of this lens is to give you an idea of how you can use InfoPath 2010 with SharePoint 2010.

InfoPath 2010 consists of two applications: InfoPath Designer 2010 and InfoPath Filler 2010. When you install InfoPath 2010, you install both applications, because InfoPath Designer 2010 and InfoPath Filler 2010 make use of the same executable, but different switches to start them up. You do not need InfoPath Filler 2010 if you have SharePoint Server 2010, InfoPath Forms Services, and are planning to create browser forms that are to be filled out through a browser. However, you would have to have it installed to be able to merge InfoPath forms.
Required for InfoPath in SharePoint 2010
You must have the following software installed to be able to design and fill out InfoPath 2010 browser forms in SharePoint 2010:

- InfoPath Filler 2010 to merge InfoPath forms that are stored in SharePoint.

InfoPath form export to Word in SharePoint
For example, if you have a simple Word document (nothing complex with tables, images, and such, but just text), you can create a solution where users fill out an InfoPath form and have the information that was entered into the InfoPath form automatically exported to a Word document. And you do not need to write a single line of code to get this done!
SharePoint makes exporting or printing InfoPath forms to simple Word documents really easy!

SharePoint Excel Services 2010
As far as InfoPath, Excel, and SharePoint goes, you can integrate the 3 together to construct several codeless solutions that would otherwise require coding. And Excel Services is the technology that binds them together.
With the new REST capabilities in InfoPath 2010, you can now call Excel Services through its REST interface. Prior to this, you would have had to call Excel Services through its SOAP web service interface, which by the way is still available in SharePoint 2010.

- Did you know that you can use a browser form to perform CRUD (create, update, delete) operations on an Access database table from within an InfoPath browser form?
