Money Doesn't Grow On Trees These Days

It's been 3 years since me and my husband had our wedding on a sunny beach in Southern California. When I look back I can remember the $1000s (I'm too embarrassed to share the amount) we spent on high dollar wedding planners, photographers, and that expensive wedding gown.

One thing I didn't realize was that you don't need a long train or floor dragging wedding gown at a beach wedding, because there is sand and water! Sounds silly for me to mention that, but I didn't realize what wind, water, and sand can do to the wrong dress.

Since then I have read a couple of books and learned from my ways on how to have the perfect beach wedding, and how to pick the perfect informal beach wedding gown for your special day. Please take the time to read these steps and follow them so you don't waste the money I did. Also, one of the books I read will help with planning and other things so you don't have to spend money on a wedding planner.

Why You Need An Informal Beach Wedding Gown

Informal Beach Wedding Gowns

When compared to traditional church weddings, getting married on the beach by nature is very informal. What that said, it would be very out of place for you to stand on that beautiful sandy beach with an 8 foot long train that's been dragging in wet sand all day. What you need is a nice casual wardrobe that will compliment the perfect scenery you and your fiancé have carefully picked out.

But don't think for a second that just because you are choosing to have you special day on a beautiful beach that the wedding can't be as glamorous as one held in church! It's just very important that you take the time and do homework to ensure you pick the right things to wear. But I'm here to help.

I suggest that you try an informal beach wedding gown. This would definitely look both elegant and classy. Take note that you don't have to absolutely go overboard, cause after all that's how all us girls get when it comes to getting married! Informal beach wedding gowns have many different designs and styles that you need to consider.

You could go for a halter or strapless top. You could also choose sleeves to cover your arms and/or provide warmth as it gets cold on beaches at night in certain times of the year. As long as the informal beach wedding gown flows well and is a reasonable length to protect against the sand/water you will be fine. Because informal beach wedding gowns are so casual, you really don't need to worry about wearing a veil.

Consider The Weather Affects On Your Informal Beach Wedding Gown

The weather is probably the most important consideration to take in terms of you informal gown

Season: Especially if you are marrying outside your local area, you will need to carefully consider the season you plan to hold your wedding. Travel and weather websites are great resources, and can even predict what percentage chance there is of rain on a certain day and time. Consider the time of day, as well. You and your guests don't want to be melting at high noon if you can help it. Also, take a look at the tides for that area and find out what they will be on the day and time you have in mind. You certainly don't want high tide if you've planned on having your wedding right next to the water's edge!

Even in paradise, rain falls. Accept that reality right now. It may drizzle, sprinkle, rain, or torrentially downpour on your chosen day. Always, always have a Plan B. For some, Plan B is to simply go on "beach time" and have a loose agenda planned for the day. This way, if there is an hour or two of unexpected moisture, the wedding can still take place once the skies have cleared. Others have enough canopy tents on hand to set up that a little rain doesn't hurt anything. For most, though, we highly recommend having a Plan B that involves an indoor location.
