The Art of Becoming an Information Entrepreneur

How to Sell Information for a Living

For every information product you launch, you'll need mini-products that complement your main eBook. Clients generally ask for at least three special bonus reports they give away with the information product. So if you hired me to write a Mail Order Bride Secrets eBooks, you might want bonus reports on Translation Tips and Gift Giving Strategies, for example.

Information products aren't limited to eBooks. You can create a membership site where people pay for access to information. I've built entire libraries for clients with hundreds of articles. This is great for those of you who want to sell affiliate products because you can hyperlink each article and drive traffic to your affiliate link.

Other clients have created information products using DVDs or audio. I highly suggest that if you go this route, you hire professionals to help you create the product. These kinds of products generally sell for far more than an eBook, so people expect professional quality - not a homemade camcorder DVD with your two-year old screaming in the background.

Your First Step as an Internet Marketer...

Your first step in becoming an information entrepreneur is to find a subject you want to become an expert in. Of course, if you hire someone like me to create the products for you, then you don't really have to become an expert at it - I'll make you one. And the wonderful thing about Internet marketing is that you can always go by a pseudonym if you don't want your real name associated with the content.

Go to Clickbank.com and see what's selling there. Go to Google and Overture and test keywords to see the expected traffic for each one. Write down your general subject matter - such as eBay, and then make a list of all of the niche ideas you can think of to create info products under that main topic - such as "How to Make a Fortune on eBay Using Dropshippers and Wholesale Distributors" or "Quick eBay Cash for Full-Time Moms." Anything targeted to a specific group or idea.

In part 2, which you'll find hyperlinked below, I cover the steps you need to take to create your information product from scratch. I also go into ways you can become an information entrepreneur using other people's products.

If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Work at Home Truths

I started out in Internet Marketing wondering which comprehensive course I could invest in that would further my education and help increase my earnings. I also wanted the truth - HA!

Then I discovered that it's much better to have bite-sized chunks of information I can act on FAST and then move on to the next step.

So now that I've earned my stripes as a bona fide successful Internet marketer, I'm paying it forward by creating what I wished I'd had in the beginning - a full course on Internet Marketing, but in small, bite-sized affordable chunks!

The first of the series is Work at Home Truths - and trust me, it isn't all glitter and fairytales.

It's a true accounting of entrepreneurial pursuits because there's nothing worse than a person quitting a secure job for this industry and then hating it.

Here's What I Built When I First Started in IM

In my course Building an eBook Empire, I detail every little secret I've accumulated in the last 6 years I've worked with the top names in Internet marketing. As a former ghostwriter to gurus such as John Reese, Jimmy Brown, Janet Wilson, Rich Schefren, and more, I launched my career as an Information Entrepreneur by learning from the best.

What started off as a five-year ghostwriting gig launched on Elance evolved into a transition as competitor in the marketplace.  My first eBook was a product for writers, which I later turned into a broad eBook for everyone.

My second eBook, the highly popular guide called Social Networking on Squidoo is personally endorsed by John Reese both on the site as a testimonial and in his November 2006 Reese Report.  It shows you exactly how I managed to use Squidoo to drive traffic to my sites and brand my name on the 'net as an up-and-coming information entrepreneur, not a behind-the-scenes writer-for-hire. Here is what one affiliate to this Squidoo book earned over a 4-day period:

Along the way there were so many little things I learned. Stuff not found in eBooks teaching you to become an information entrepreneur, because it's the tiny details here and there - but it's also the secret ingredients to what makes the money machine work.

Using PLR as an Information Entrepreneur

The Power of Private Label Rights

Private Label Rights articles give you quick access to content that you can tweak a tad and use as your own.

Tiffany Dow has a website selling 5 for $5 PLR Niche Article Packs at the PLR Mini Mart

PLR usually comes in the form of a batch of articles, but can also be an eBook or special report, which is sold to multiple buyers who can then alter them and release them with their own names on it.

If you buy PLR items, make sure you alter it slightly to make the search engines satisfied that you haven't duplicated any content.

Here's How to Alter PLR...

You can add an intro or conclusion, change up the keywords, or switch out a sentence or two - even rearrange the order of the article. Then slap your name on it, submit it to article directories, put it in your blog, or use it as web content and you'll see traffic being driven back to your site.

PLR articles are a great deal for both you and the writer - and assuming you find someone capable of writing valuable content, you'll benefit greatly from their talent at a price you can afford.

On the PLR Mini Mart, you can request your topics and they'll be added to a list of ideas to work on for future batches.

Could This Be the End of Info Products?

How Tiffany Dow Got Her Start in IM

When I first made the strategic move to morph into a full time information entrepreneur, I joined the Warrior Form and began absorbing lessons from others. My first WSO (Warrior Special Offer) - a 14 page Guide to Squidoo - sold hundreds of copies at $10 a pop.

Now that I'm launching my own eBook Empire, my income from being an information entrepreneur is growing exponentially.

This is in part due to the fact that affiliates have begun selling my eBooks and enjoying the low refund rate my products command.

In this lens, we're going to look at the steps it takes to become an information entrepreneur in your own right. Whether you're a complete newbie or a seasoned veteran, this free crash course will help you stay on the right path to success!

Have You Added Social Networking to Your Marketing Agenda?

How MySpace and Other Free Social Sites Can Catapult Your Business Success

So I recently was hired to write a MySpace Marketing eBook and since I knew nada about the topic, assuming MySpace was for teens, I had to go undercover and immerse myself in the trenches.

What I found out was that MySpace means big business. My first two-week foray into the setting of a social network, I was contacted by prospective customers of my Building an eBook Empire guide and I was also been contacted by several prospective clients for writing purposes.

In addition, I found a long lost friend I hadn't seen since we were 18 years old! The benefits are enormous but so many people are sadly going about it the wrong way. MySpace is a SOCIAL network, so you have to set up a personal page and make friends there to network with.

If you're using the site to spam people, then you're missing out on a ton of sales. I recommend you buy some sort of MySpace marketing book and learn the ropes anytime you are learning a new web 2.0 site strategy.
