Digital Infrared Photography Examples and Tutorials
Infrared photography has opened our minds to a completely new reality, where common scenery changes to a wonderful dreamlike scene. It may look like everything is covered in snow and skies are dark and mysterious, but what you can see is an effect of blocking the visible light spectrum and letting infrared light pass through the lens. This is how a unique infrared composition is created. Lets explore this technique further by discussing some of the best infrared photography examples and by visiting relevant tutorials.
Hopefully you will find here many useful infra-red photography resources.

To record the "invisible light " has always been an intriguing and fascinating experiment. The results are often unusual, yet beautiful, renderings of otherwise fairly common scenes.

This filter is used for photography with infrared films. Infrared film is also sensitive to ultraviolet rays and the shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum so it is necessary to filter out all but the infrared rays. R72 passes only infrared rays above 720nm. It is often used in crime detection, medical photography, detection of distribution of vegetation, etc.

When infrared sensitive film was developed both photographers and the film industry begin to exploit this new method, to the stage it was so common it lost it's beauty and charm for many years. Now this technique flourishes in the "digitalized" world. New photographers create more and more astonishing infrared photography images to inspire future generations.

- A lot of these pictures look really strange, as if someone sucked the color out of them and only left a couple colors around. It gives off this quirky surreal aspect.
