Ingrown hairs in pubic area is caused by pubic hair that curls back or grows sideways into the skin. Normally, pubic hair grows out perfectly from pubic hair follicles but when ingrown hairs block the hair follicles, pimples may develop along with redness of the surrounding skin. Pubic pimples, like all other types of pimples, are painful, itchy and may leave permanent scars if you are careless.
How Are Ingrown Hairs in the Pubic Region Caused?
Shaving the pubic area with an improper pubic shaver is the most common cause of ingrown hairs in the pubic area because most people never bother to purchase a proper shaver that does not cause irritation to the skin at the pubic area. Ingrown hairs can also be developed when hair is cut off underneath the skin during waxing and tweezing.
Treatment of Ingrown Hairs in the Pubic Region
There are a couple of ways you could treat ingrown pubic hair. The first method requires you to apply a hot cloth or hot compress on your ingrown pubic hair. This is a common method to deal with inflammation but it also helps to soften the pubic hair underneath your skin so that it may rise above the surface. If the ingrown hairs do not surface after a few of minutes, repeat a few more times. Should the problem persist%, try again in a few hours or another day as the pubic hair may not be long enough for you to extract. Whatever happens, you should never attempt to force or squeeze the hair out in any way as this may cause bleeding and permanent scars.
Sterilize a pair of tweezers and use it to get rid of any tiny part of ingrown hair above the surface of your skin. Once you are done, thoroughly clean your pubic area, dry it with a towel and apply a layer of antiseptic cream to prevent infections.
If the pulling out of ingrown hairs doesn't sound very appealing to you, you may purchase some hair removal lotion from your dermatologist or pharmacy that is capable of dissolving ingrown pubic hairs underneath your skin without irritating the skin in your pubic area.
What Not To Do After Treatment
It is important that you avoid wearing any tight underwear or trousers until all your ingrown hairs have completely healed. If you discover that you tend to develop ingrown pubic hairs just by wearing tight clothing, I suggest that you purchase clothing made of softer fabrics or totally scrapping tight clothing from your wardrobe to prevent ingrown hairs.
Skin exfoliation with a shower sponge is big no no when you have ingrown pubic hair. Scrubbing your sensitive skin when you have pubic pimples will only make them worse. There are specialized waxing products for the removal of ingrown pubic hairs. However, you must not use them on your pubic area if you have pubic pimples.
