A Beginners Explanation
There are two types of Networks:
Wired Network
A wired network is...come on... you guessed it a network with wires. Computer connect through there Network Interface Card (NIC Card) with a cable called an ethernet cable (Cat5,Cat5e). All computers contect to a router and then to a modem of some type. These networks are now more expensive then their counterpart wireless, but are faster for the moment (reaching speeds of 100 Mbps). It usually involves drilling holes though the floor or wall or a whole bunch of wire covers. If done right it will look good and be pretty much maintence free(of course theres the occassional rodent). Zepps Home Computer Repair Offers this service starting at $75 for two computers.
Wireless Network
A wireless network is a network that runs without wires. The most common home network runs on 802.11 a/b/g. A three in one. Dont worry what any of that means however, the top speed you can get is (54 Mbps). It is the easiest network to set up and offers almost the same securirty as a wired network.Zepps Home Computer Repair charges the same rate for wireless. Only $100!!.
