Inkheart by Cornelia Funke - Great Book for Young Readers
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke is a fantasy story filled with danger and evil. The heroine of the story is a young girl named Meggie who faces her fears and finds courage to overcome the evil that hunts her father.
Meggie's father Mo is a book binder and Meggie is surrounded by books. Mo has a gift, a wonderful and dangerous gift. When Mo reads a loud his voice is so smooth and beautiful to listen to that even the characters in the book he is reading are drawn to it, drawn right out of the book itself.
Mo has never read outloud to Meggie and she has no idea about his gift, that is until a rainy night when she sees a stranger outside her home. A stranger who brings danger with him.
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
One cruel night, Meggie's father reads aloud from Inkheart, and an evil ruler named Capricorn escapes the boundaries of fiction and lands in their living room. Suddenly, Meggie is in the middle of the kind of adventure she has only read about in books. Megggie must learn to harness the magic that has conjured this nightmare. Only she can change the course of the story that has changed her life forever.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Cornelia Funke has been my son's favorite writer since reading Dragon Rider and Inkheart has only added to his love of her books. He is a fantasy story addict, with other favorites being Harry Potter, The Wormling Series, and the Chronicles of Narnia.
The biggest disappointment with Inkheart when we read it was that Inkspell hadn't been published and we were left waiting for the next book.... Now we can't wait for the third and last installment Inkdeath.
You fall in love with all the great characters in the book and the imagery of the words put you in the living room with Mo as he reads to Meggie's mom. You can see Elenors library and Dustfingers fire. The story captivates you and you can almost feel Basta's knife against your own throat.
Meggie is an innocent girl full of courage and wonder. Her love of books is only surpassed by her love and devotion to Mo. Their lives are centered around the books in their lives as it is also Mo's livelyhood. A story about a love for books only fuels a young child's love for reading.
Inkspell is the sequel and was just as wonderful as Inkheart, I can't wait for the last book.
“The story...seems to have been sprinkled with some magical fairy dust.
