In Love With Ice Cream

Ranked #16,545 in Food & Cooking, #291,099 overall

Is there anything better than a triple decker?

I don't think that there is a month when we don't have at least ONE container of ice cream in the house... and obviously in the summer, we go through the stuff like there is no tomorrow.

Did I mention that we have begun making our own ice cream and we are getting pretty good at it, but unfortunately yesterday we packed it away. We are moving at the end of the month and we have some packing to get out of the way. But, the minute that we unpack, we are going to make another batch. So far our chocolate had been better than anything I have tasted to date! No kidding lol...

More Things I Didn't Know About Ice Cream

  1. Apparently George Washington certainly had a thing for ice cream and ran up a bill for over $200.00 one summer. With prices in those days, that must have been a lot of ice cream??
  2. I just found a bank that advertised that they were offering ice cream in their side garden later this week. I wonder just how many people will show up lol... now that is a good way to drum up business!!

How's This for an Ice Cream Sundae??

The largest ice cream sundae that I could dig up was made in Mickey Mouse country coming in at 4,667 gallons of ice cream with 7000 pounds of toppings. Now that is one big sundae!

Things I Didn't Know About Ice Cream

*Believe it or not, ice cream can be traced back to at least the 4th century B.C! Who knew??

*Ice Cream is really a play on the words of the original dessert. It was once known as "Iced Cream" which makes sense!

*Ice Cream made its debut in Canada somewhere around 1850, but it wasn't for another 40 years or so before William Neilson started up his own little company in Toronto which would continue at the same location for for close to 100 years.

*Did you know that more Ice Cream is sold on Sunday than any other day of the week!

*The most popular flavor of ice cream is... believe it or not... vanilla! Bet you thought that it would be chocolate didn't you!

Don't Use Regular Salt

If you want to make your own ice cream, be sure to read the instructions carefully and then use the kind of salt that the machine tells you too. I've tried regular table salt and it doesn't work!
