July 13th: Embrace Your Inner Geekiness Day

Ranked #15,507 in Holidays & Celebrations, #256,938 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

Obscure holidays can be silly and fun. So enjoy the 13th of July, Embrace your inner geekiness day.

Embrace your inner geekiness day? You know, I think I might just really like that day!

The term 'Geek' has different meanings to different people, but basically it is an endearing term describing a really smart individual that lacks in social skills or 'coolness.'

I recall as a teenager that being called a geek was worse than not having a date for the prom, but as I have gotten older, I have learned enjoy my geeky tendencies. So I am embracing my love for outer space, fish, and Barry Manilow. (I've been told these things help qualify me as a geek)

What about you? What are you doing to embrace your inner geekiness?

How in the world did this come to be an official holiday?

Thanks due at wellcat.com

Ruth and Thomas Roy bring you "Wellcat Holidays ... more than 80 reasons to celebrate life & its many quirky moments."

Well, that's good enough for me.

I learned at their website that July 13th is also "Gruntled Workers Day."

If that isn't enough, July 15th is "Be A Dork Day."

So July is shaping up to be a pretty darn fun month here at my house.

Boy am I glad the definition has changed.

And I am glad I never witnessed those circus performers.

I'm here to tell you that "Embrace Your Inner Geekiness Day" does NOT in any way mean to go biting the head off of anything. Please. Restrain yourselves.

Confession time.

This might just qualify me as a geek.

I have always loved Wonder Woman, and sometimes I even imagine my bangle bracelets are bullet proof and my hairband doubles as a boomerang.

Ahhh.

Feels good to get that off my chest.

How does one celebrate Embrace Your Inner Geekiness Day?

Well I'm not really sure exactly what we're supposed to do...

But I'm thinking maybe wear nerd glasses, a tee shirt that says "no, I will not fix your computer," and hang up your poster of Pee Wee. Yep, that will do the trick.
