Warcraft Pro: Inscription

Inscription is a mostly required addition to the game these days. Glyphs alter spells and abilities in various ways allowing a user to fully customize their spec to play off specific strengths. Once a glyph is learned, it's permanent, though dust of Disappearance is required to replace a glyph that's already installed.

Inscription can also be used to create cards, off-hand items, and scrolls giving it some versatility. The profession uses inks and parchment to create most items. Parchment can be bought off any trade vendor, though the inks are created by first milling herbs for pigments, then combing them into inks.

Inscription is usually best paired with herbalism as a large number of herbs are required for leveling and production.

Inscription has been noted to make lots of gold in the past. One player even admitted to using it to hit the in-game gold cap shortly after Cataclysm hit. This is less the case right now as Darkmoon decks aren't quite the huge sellers right now, but there is still a large amount of gold available for crafters.

The key is patience. Glyphs and cards generally have low auction fees with high return, but not always high turnover. you might end up putting the same glyphs up day after day, but in the end, it's usually worth it. you can also sell the pigments and inks you make for other scribes to use.
