rhino beetle

The Worlds Strongest Animal!
Rhino beetles are really cool. They eat rotten fruits and sap. They are the strongest creatures in the world, but aren't cute and furry, they are usually black and have horns on there head. They fight each other so if you have two as a pet (which i do) you should have them in separate cages. They usually fight to get the female and the winner of the fight, mates with the female rhino beetle.
Rhinoceros beetles wear black armor and have long, large horns sticking out of their heads. The reason they are called rhinoceros beetles, is because of their horns. Rhinoceros beetles use their horns lots of different things such as digging holes in the ground as hideouts, foraging through the heavily littered floor of rain forests, and fighting off other rhinoceros beetles. Even though rhinoceros beetles look fierce with their horns, they are actually harmless insects. They measure no more than 2 1/2 inches long and weigh less than 1 ounce,
They are interesting bugs. Or i wouldn't like them of course. Another thing about rhino beetles is that they are the strongest living animal on earth. You are probably wondering why, because an elephant is massive and can lift a human like it were nothing. Or you are probably thinking ants are stronger because they can lift at least 5 times there own size. The elephants and ants are strong, but they are no match for a rhino beetle which can carry 850 times its own weight!. That is why i like them so much, they are the strongest animal in the planet! I read that if a human could lift 850 times its own weight, the person could lift something that weighs 65 tons! You and I should know that a human could not lift 65 tons... Email me if you want to know more about rhino beetles
Stages
The stages are what the rhino beetle goes through during life.
Stages of a Rhino Beetle
Eggs:
The female rhino beetle lays about 50 white in the soil, in warm seasons.
Larvae:
After a month the eggs hatch, and they enter the larval stage. The larva stage can last several years. The larva stays underground for six months to one year. While they are there they grow and molt twice before entering the pupa stage.
Pupa and Adult:
The Pupa stage doesn't last very long. It usually takes a few weeks. Once they grow into adults they still remain in the ground until spring. The female will begin releasing pheromones to attract the males as they surface. After they mate the female digs into the soil to lay the eggs and the cycle begins again

- Hi. I am an American currently in Vietnam. I have found a hermit crab which is now my pet. Yesterday I found a large rhino beetle. Can I keep both together without any problems? Thanks.

- I'm sure the animals will not battle over territorial issues, so it should be safe. Although I don't recommend mixing the two, as hermit crabs and rhino beetles have relatively different habitats, resulting in the need for different enclosures. Combining them should be safe, as long as your cage is suitable for the needs of the hermit crab and the rhino beetle.

- You can check at your local pet store or check in semi-wooded areas, under logs and rocks. I've had good luck finding them within brush, rummaging through the dirt. If you have no luck with either of these methods, you might be able to order one online.

- Hi, I am trying to find out what the typical life expectancy of a rhinoceros beetle is. Also, how to obtain one as a pet in the United States. My 8 year old has had one that she caught as a pet all summer but now he seems to be dying. She is heartbroken! She will be a great entomologist one day ;)
Your lens is great!!

- The typical life expectancy of a rhino beetle under captivity is hard to determine, it depends on the enviornment, maintenance, and the species. Although, I can tell you the rhino beetles I have caught and raised lived, on average, for about a year.

- Hello,
I live in Arizona and I am pretty sure I found a Lesser Triceratops Beetle in my bathroom last night. I have it in a tupperware. Before I let it go or maybe keep it as a pet or call an exterminator - I wanted to know if you have any idea how this could have gotten into our house? Mainly so I can prevent this from happening again. It is kind of cool, seems gentle but I generally am scared of bugs. Thanks! Nicole

- Could be a hercules beetle, people confuse them all the time with rhino beetles. Very cool find though.
