Insightful Lessons From Hawaiian Massage
Ranked #76,061 in Healthy Living, #832,456 overall
Personal Development
I have experienced my very first Hawaiian healing massage (Ho'oponopono Lomi Lomi). This healing massage has a great emphasis on deep breathing, holistic wellbeing, positive energy, spiritual healing, and removing toxins in the body (and mind!). During my massage, my massage therapist expressed some powerful and meaningful messages that will affect my personal growth. Here are the most meaningful messages I received:
Unconditional Self-Love
Most of us have felt love that is unconditional for others, however we may neglect giving ourselves unrestricted love! We give forgiveness the people we love for their mistakes, while we judge ourselves harshly for our own behaviors or outcomes. We give others the freedom that is needed for personal growth, while we fix incredibly challenging objectives for ourselves. And while I trust and teach everyone else to embrace the process, to acknowledge each step on the way to their most significant ambitions, to welcome progressive growth, to concentrate on their skills and most intense interests, and to allow for authentic action and acceptance.. I am telling myself to 'be there right now, to wipe out my weaknesses, to conquer all hurdles, to be strong and be greater than my own self! (Yes, I'm sharing some challenges that I have kept personal to this point - however I believe this may serve and inspire other people!). Like so many people, I must practice better what I preach, and give myself unconditional love while allowing myself to grow!
Achieving Balance Between Taking Action and Allowing
My therapist shared the role of the Feminine and Masculine quality of all individuals. The Masculine side drives the actions, the constant motivation to produce change, to re-shape, to DO. The Feminine side drives gratitude and stillness, and opens us to RECEIVE and ALLOW. A positive balance linking the Masculine and Feminine sides optimizes emotional, physical and spiritual well-being, and allows for the realization of our best potential and desires. This message has been given to me persistently in the last months.. and at this point, I need to genuinely accept it and practice this! Taking action is one thing, but often we get so immersed in creating change and 'DOING', that we are not able to practice gratitude and welcome the stillness of what is, in the moment. We cannot see opportunities and gifts, ready for our acceptance. We might not attract and allow the people, events or things that need our focus and openness. So as I am greatly focused on making positive change, taking inspired action and completing my objectives, I will make sure to look up regularly, appreciate the abundance I already possess, open my mind and heart, and ALLOW!
Your Body is Your Best Friend
We've all heard that our body is 'a temple', however the analogy of a best friend is more meaningful to me. Along with the lesson of loving myself unconditionally, how about treating my body like my best friend? To my best friend, I am caring, kind, gentle, mindful, respectful, available, generous, loving and patient. My body needs all this! As I apply this to my daily mindfulness and behaviors, I can genuinely grant my body what it requires for mental and physical well-being, from fitness to nutrition, and from breathing and relaxation to energy and strength. It is a shift in priority and attitude, as I care for my body as I would for a best friend, and grant it the love, respect, time and care that it must have to give power to my mind and actions. Vital approach indeed!
I totally appreciated the Hawaiian healing massage, and in particular the insightful lessons given from this holistic philosophy, which I will apply to my personal development and online business Let me leave you with the '9 Principles of Living in Natural 'Huna' Harmony', which were communicated regularly during the massage:
Be Graceful (Ho'ola) * Be Aware (Ike) * Be Free (Kala)
Be Focused (Makia) * Be Here (Manawa) * Be Happy (Aloha)
Be Confident (Mana) * Be Positive (Pono) * Be Merciful ('Ohana)
