In Kansas City's Westside, the intersection of 17th St. and Summit St. attracts a diverse crowd of artists, foodies, and passionate small-business owners. The 1890s neighborhood has much to offer Westside residents as well as the greater Kansas City community. As one resident put it, "the things that are happening in our neighborhood are what urban areas aspire to."

As some of the old houses have been torn down over the years, architects have filled in with modern structures. The mix of old and new is what defines the neighborhood. It is a place where new ideas can coexist with tradition!

We welcome you to visit this section often as we will be capturing the stories of local residents who make the Westside such an eclectic neighborhood.

The Nub collection designed by Patricia Urquiola earned the top honour in the "Sofas and Lounge" category in the "NeoCon® People's Choice Awards", a prize awarded to the products receiving the most votes from the general public on Internet in the contest organized on the neocon.com webpage and in Contract Design magazine.

Tread Lightly Drawer Body System, a waste reduction measure that yields a sustainability boon by using would-be waste material and other environmentally preferred resources on all desk and storage drawers. Watson's Tread Lightly Drawer Body is a continuous improvement initiative that uses powdercoat cast-off, 93 percent recycled steel and NAUF (no added urea formaldehyde) medium density fiberboard made with 100 percent post-industrial woodwaste, sealed with a waterborne finish. All Watson Desking board suppliers are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and participate in the Sustainable Forest Initiative. All components of the Tread Lightly Drawer Body are 100 percent end-of-use recyclable. - gotta love it!
