Understanding Pricing

crown moldingNow you can keep this figure in mind as you begin to shop for your favorite molding. This will give you a good idea of how much this cheap home decorating idea is going to cost you. Once you have selected and purchased the molding of your choice, it will need to be painted or any finish applied before you can cut or install it. Allow any stain or paint to dry completely before you begin any installation.Do what you can to purchase the molding in lengths that will require as few splices as possible. Usually, molding pieces do not come in longer lengths than 14-16 feet. These longer lengths are also more apt to warp or sag, which you do not want. Most likely, if you are working with long walls, they will need to be spliced, so keep that in mind.Woodworking For Beginners can help with your project.

DIY Crown Molding Minimal Mistakes

Guide to basic crown moldingWondering how to install crown molding yourself with minimal mistakes? Well, you may want to start by making sure that you have a comfortable area to work in. If you already have a hobby shop, great! If not, then just a few long 2x4s laid out on saw horses will be helpful. You will need a proper place like this for the miter saw and for supporting the molding as you work. Be sure that you have enough lighting and accessible power in your work station as well. Another facet of this work that you may not have considered is doing this work above your head for chunks of time. This can get very tiring! Make sure that you have a solid platform of either rented scaffolding or heavy planking and saw horses for you to stand on during the installation.Another tip to prepare you to install crown molding yourself is planning. Proper planning will save you time and money. Try to plan the molding out into a pattern where one end of each piece will always be cut straight and the other end will be mitered or coped. Also lay out the pieces so that the joints line up with the studs whenever possible. And if you would like to learn how to Do it yourself come by Dime Decorating. I miss being able to do DIY projects around the house ~ we're in a rental now and it's a little depressing. I won't even hang pictures on the walls here because so many things are just falling apart and not done right in this house. Can't wait to get into something that is really ours.

I understand not wanting to decorate when you are renting. We lived in our camper for 2 years while we were building our house. When I finally got out of there I went wild with the decorating. Thanks for visiting my lens and good luck with finding your own place.
